Question Claiming for delayed and cancelled trips

Would anyone know what's the norm nowdays for a "Five Star" or any of the big airlines to compensate for 7 hour delayed flight or cancelled flight, as it happened to a recent trip to US?

With the same token, insurance companies are prepared to pay $300 per hour over any delay over 6 hours and $5000 for any cancelled flight.
