Dubai Municipality approval for works done to a Dubai villa

Hi folks,

Anyone had any experience of Dubai Municiplaity (DM) visiting privately owned villas and telling owners they have to now apply for DM approval for garden and other work they may have had carried out. Heard that for example owners in arabian ranches depsite Emaar approvals DM is now in charge and applying different rules retrospectively. So even though owners did everything correctly they are now facing fines or told to demolish or change gardens etc to the new rules.

Any info would be greatly appreciated as I think I maybe receiving a visit from them next.

Over and out.
