The Stealey-Wheelie, and those crosses...

I do think its funny that the Stealey Wheelie threads have been the most popular lately.

Look deeper into the issue. Maybe some local didn't get a "cut" into this big purchase (3000+ cases).

Not saying anything smells bad about this deal, but i've seen countless managers at my other previous employers making side income in less than ethical ways.

ie.

Creating their own 3rd party shell company to sell parts and supplies back to their employer at exorbitant prices.

Or getting a nice payout from a supplier from a big contract being awarded….

If you think of things in that way (like a crook), a lot of stuff makes sense. If EK is on this big cost cutting kick, why wouldn't they let us buy our own flight case and make a rule that its black and conservative?

Uniforms, bags and probably EK branded smalls next. Is this a sign of his departure at some point as he tries to 'leave his mark'?

pilotday - I think there is a lot more of that going on within the company that we perhaps first think!

How very perceptive of you both. Next time you get on board, take a sneaky look at the duty free magazine. There are a few of our senior management out there with their names on rather a lot of merchandise. Fancy a pendant by Ted Green? Course not, but change the name to a fancy Spanish sounding designer and hey presto, 'Eduardo Verde' becomes a top seller. Robin Paget not sexy enough then let's make way for Italian designer 'Roberto Paggio'. Amanda Suarez....and so it goes on.....

You couldn't make it up if you tried!

They've already started the company:

Emirates Lingerie | Middle-East

Choice of logos: Fly Emirates, Hello Tomorrow or for the adventurous Keep Discovering!

Come in red or fluorescent so that you can do the walkround or use the crew steps. Wibble!

I'm surprised you don't get this image when you click on the lingerie site:

I guess morals can be flexible when there's money to be made - as always around here. Those ads would qualify as porn in this place. The locals must be spanking themselves silly over it.

i wonder what would happen to Dubai's economy if they outlawed alcohol and enforced illegal prostitution.

My thoughts exactly. I was thinking about it when I loaded up on duty free booze and my bag was looking quite oval.

Seriously though, what if it breaks?

It's all part of his retirement plan after EK. This will be the sole supplier of replacement Stealey-Wheelies.

Note: 50% sale is not applicable to Emirates Airline pilots.

A bag mix up / crisis in the sim today. Only a matter of time before passports / docs etc go flying off in different directions globally. You couldn't make it up...

A Crisis you say? Definition of crisis; 'a time of acute difficulty or danger'. Isn't that every simulator session anyway? Regarding mixing the bags, just do what my recent F/O did and stick a couple of brightly coloured dangly things given to him by his kids. Looks very professional. Our DSVP would be suitably impressed!

I saw it at EGHQ sign-in the other day. One fella picked up a random trolley - not his - and made off for security. Sadly after 10 minutes of arm flapping outside the flight docs office trolleys and owners were reunited.

Devil

Not sure anybody would ever want to inadvertently wander off with my flight bag... what with contents predominantly consisting of truly 'exotic' jazz mags, prophylactics, litres of Scotch, and copious packets Bongo Bill's banjo pills... but, there again, maybe they would?!
