Taking Spouse/Family to EK Interview

I have seen that EK recommends spouses to attend interviews. Do they offer standby tickets for spouse and/or kids or is it out of pocket? I ask as the boss would likely be the deciding factor on moving to the sandbox or not but a visa and ticket to get the whole family to Dubai would be a bit much on my current salary.
Cheers.

Their tickets would be at your expense.

Not sure that's true- I THINK they spring for a fare for your spouse these days, but stand to be corrected.

Still, CERTAINLY bring the trouble'n'strife for a look.

Unless it changed recently, they do not pay for your spouse.

I did selection this year in March and it was at your expense if you wanted to bring partners.

Indeed spouses at own cost.

My two cents; if the ticket for the spouse is that hard of an issue, you should probably think twice before coming over anyway...

They cover the incremental hotel cost for having 2 people in the room, and they can eat on your 100dhs. Also if there is a visa cost they will take care of it. Otherwise it's about 9000usd for the spouses J seat

If she can come over great, if not don't worry about not getting the job just because of that. My wife stayed behind and somehow I was able to sneak though.

Not bringing your spouse won't stop you getting the job, although Emirates would prefer you to bring them because it shows you are serious about moving to Dubai.

However, your spouse will be spending a lot more time in Dubai than you will so you are braver than I am if you would dare to tell them that they are moving halfway around the world to a place they haven't even seen. If they can't get out for the interview try to at least get out on holiday before you sign on the dotted line. That is good advice even if they do come for the interview- you really want to make sure you have a good look around before making such a life changing decision and Dubai is "different". Sometimes good different, sometimes bad different.

BigGeordie said it right. It is a big decision to move the family (or just wife, husband, lover) to the sand box. We bought an ID 90 I believe at the time, and it was round trip, less than 500 bucks round trip for my wife to come out. I would not have made such a decision unless she was on board with the schools, villa, Dubai, etc. We came from a regional FO position in the States, so the 300% increase in pay along with the rest of the package was a no brainier for us specifically. Everyone I would imagine comes from different backgrounds, and has their own reasons. We have enjoyed it so far these past two years, and no complaints or regrets at all from us. Good luck!

I would advise taking your wife and your lover on separate trips.
