Complete BS story. He sold it on to the Saudi Royal family a few years back. They have no use for it & it's sitting in storage.
But the guy is keen on as much coverage as possible and is not about to refute any of this hot air.
Similar article in the UK Daily Mail this week
here but its complete hogwash; isn't happening.
But it makes for a great story.

Why not just give that ammount of money to cancer research or hundreds of charities in africa's etc...
He'd be very limited in his movement with that moster anyway. Utterly useless!

Flaphandlemover, google the Saad group and you will find out why that A340 is subject to legal proceedings.
Under the present Saudi leadership, there is no way that they will spend the money required to retrofit the A380.

I completely agree. Why in the ME do they always need to have the tallest, biggest, most expensive, vip, vvip, vvvip, etc? Inferiority complex?

Which completion facility will put their head on the block to go to contract on this aircraft? That is the question.

A non-issue as there as absolutely no plan to put a contract in place.

Payscale. Considering that it will take about two years to outfit an aircraft like this, I would have thought that it was premature to hire pilots.

it wouldn't be the first, look at the 2 VIP MD11's, or the first BBJ3 or more recently a B748 that went straight from Seattle to the US desert.
All were purchased in a different financial era.

I know of one 748 that went to the desert recently, but that was for installation work, it's now in Europe for an interior. I don't think anyone will ever see a VVIP 380 out there for a long time.
