How does someone push the keyboard, with the LAV door open (in full sight of about 25 pax) and then gain access to the flight-deck and still somehow keep it secret how you LOCK the Lav door?
Err, you use your foot to prop the lav door open while using your body to shield the keypad from view..? Not that hard... They all know how to lock/unlock the door, it's not actually a huge secret. Again, if you work smart, it's possible to do. But they still know you are locking it, could easily work it out, so a bit of a waste really. Guess it's just to stop anyone 'hiding' in there...
IMHO I'd rather have a nice open space which allows me a good view of someone trying to sneak up on me rather than a curtain that blocks any view of the fwd area... unless of course you mean curtains fwd of the first row of seats and not at the bottom of the stairs.
not quite sure what you mean by the 'large expanse fwd lower', since that pretty much stays there as it's the door crossover for evacuation path. Whether there's a CRC or not there's always going to be a wide crossover between ML1 and MR1 is there not?
If you look at the diagram here, it appears none of the first 3 operators have any galleys at the front, (upper or lower deck) it's not just an EK thing
Double luxury - how the airlines are configuring their A380s
At least EK have the CSA who is usually somewhere around the top of the stairs, the others would have crew mostly in the galley or cabins
