Compass test
Hey guys, I'm new here in the forum. I applied to EK in January and I will be in Dubai in April for the selection program.
I already started my preparation and bought the Skytest, that I find well done.
I was just wondering about the real composition of the compass test in EK, since it seems to be a bit easier than the Skytest.
I mostly refer to math. Problems are not difficult but, since they are generated with random values to keep up the training, I often get into decimal values. That is ok but, since all the calculations are mentally done with just paper and pencil, they make you lose some time. Do you guys know if it applies to the EK tests, too?
Any other suggestion for the kind of psychometric tests I can refer in Skytest to better calibrate my preparation?
Thanks in advance for those who already passed the selection and want to share their experience!

Don't know what to think
I applied back in Feb 2012 for FO, was shortlisted, then got email saying I qualify for DEC, asked to apply, so I did, also shortlisted. Then Capt window closed, now shortlisted for FO, but nothing yet.
12000hrs plus TTL, 5000hrs on A321/320/319 (3500 as PIC/1500 as SIC).
No idea if they will even ever call me, i wonder even why they tell me to apply as DEC, even if I met their minimum, when they knew they weren't even going to call me, i should have left my app as FO only....
Now I can't even remove my DEC app from their database, I think they keep bypassing me until their DEC reopens again.....I don't know...
Any ideas anyone?

I know that in the past you could apply with less then the minimum hours provided you had it at time of joining. Has anyone recently applied and been offered interview with less than the required hours?

I think early last year when recruitment was in overdrive that was most certainly the case. I myself attended the pre-selection before I had their minimum requirements. Back then it was even on the website that you could apply 500hrs short of the requirement.
At the moment however recruitment is much slower and with a pool of applicants with much more than the required minimum hours I'm not sure you'd hear anything from them if you apply now.
It is worth a try though but if I were you i'd expect to have to wait a while for interview even when you meet the minimum hours. Most of us have the minimum hours and have been waiting for a while for a call to finish the rest of the process.
Hang in there!!

Pampa,
Keep trying until you get a response. I'm guessing your email hasn't reached the right person or else they were flooded with emails and passed over yours. If I had your qualifications I'm not sure I would want to spend 7 years or so in the right seat at EK. Think hard about that one. Dubai is getting more expensive by the day and EK knows how to get every ounce of productivity out of their employees.

HELLO EVERYBODY,
I havenīt apply yet, I have 4900TT (1700-E145 F/O, 2000-E190 F/O, 1000-737NG F/O) should you guys think thats enough or I should wait a little bit more.
What Iīve been reading is that people called for the interviews are pilots higher rated, I would appreciate your advices.
PSI. In a general way what do you think about SKY TEST softwares?
THANKS, FROM MEXICO.

I would submit your application now. I'm not sure how your hours compare to the rest of the shortlister's but you've got to be "in it to win it" as they say.
If you do have to wait for an interview at least when the time comes you will have shown your patient and demonstrated your longer term interest in EK.
Anybody heard anything more about interviews in May/June etc or has it gone all quiet!?
