Female Pilots in the Middle East

I am thinking of applying for positions in the Middle East and wondered if there were many female pilots working there. I was interested to know what its like to work in the middle east and their experiences. Please PM or reply. Many thanks Chrissy

Gulf Air recently upgraded their first female FO to the left seat. She is ex Brussels Airlines.

EK 777 Female Captain

I managed to swing a business flight to Manila recently, and was very pleased to hear the welcome PA by the female CAPTAIN.

The take off and landing were fantastic, the catering soso...

what to do....

Gulf Air looks to have around 8 or 10 female pilots. Correct me if I'm wrong. It's difficult to get relatively accurate numers though.

There seem to be lots of female pilots with Indian airliners for some reason. But that's a different discussion.

How about EK? many females flying for them?

I just applied, I exceed the minimums and have heavy international time ... anyone know if being female has a bearing on whether they call you for an interview or not?

@tonne:

Yes if you exceed the required min. they will most probably call you. Qatar as well if you´re interested. My wife is also a pilot and got the call for both.

Just a shame they´ve both stopped (for now) hiring though.

Cheers.

Upspeed.

I think EK has 30 + female pilots and that number is going up.

Tonne,

In the ME you will not have an advantage for what you have, or don't have, between your legs.

Thanks guys.

Actually, I have done quite a bit of flying in the ME already, but all cargo. I'm pretty clued into the daily/yearly culture/lives so far, just wasn't sure about pilots since we are normally in our own little cargo world!

@ upspeed - did your wife interview and/or accept a job offer at either?

AFAIK, per capita. QR has the most number of female pilots and have had some on the LHS since a decade ago.

@tonne:

She hasn't interviewed for either one yet, but is shortlisted for both screenings...waiting for recruitment to pick up again. PM us if you need more detailed info.

Cheers!
