Unhappy Hmmm

The "holy" Koran is not clear, it is ambiguous about fasting. As it is about most things.

Many EK pilots concerned and I see where you are coming from. Some have witnessed this year in year out. Yet each year they know that Ramadan will come and these issues will be faced over again. There are muslim pilots everywhere but clearly more prevalent in a muslim country. I ask why do you continue to work in these conditions each year? Having to compromise your professional judgement, risk of being reported by purser, not being able to eat or drink in public and all the other harsh conditions. Why would you not simply resign and go work in your home countries where you may live in normality and comfort?

fasting

miguel

WAKE UP!!!!!

fasting has no and i mean no place at all in an aircraft, especially with these outside conditions

risk of a subtle incapacitation way too high - and as i mention this, how many more accidents are happening during ramadan because of no food or liquid intake? even the newspapers warn to drive special carefully those days

i respect their holy month, no problem with no smoking, no drinking no whatsoever during day until iftar

and like left coaster said, go back to your shiny cockpit, and get informed, what is happening around you!!

cheers

Cool sweet life

good day

i realy enjoyed reading some of your post's about RAMADAN and fasting

i do fast in RAMADAN when i can unles its a longhual over the ocean or i feel tired and have to eat and drink, the funny thing i realy liked is when someone said ( Offloading his FO for fasting ) . i just hope it happen to me, i would ask for a written letter signed by him and the FDM stating the reason of offloading.

sweet note : if you dont like it here why staying, leave ( ops sorry there is no jobs home, TAXES says hi too)

Regards

Mentioning islam and science in the same sentence is like comparing quantum physics and the tooth fairy.

Rationality may not save us, but faith in myths will most certainly kill us. (And already has killed countless.)

I just thank the Great Spaghetti Monster that this year's dreary ritual is drawing to a close. Flight safety and general usefulness of humanity is about to increase marginally.

Probably will get flamed for this..

Why not treat each individual with more trust and respect that as a professional, she/he should know how to take care of the Ramadan situation?

I'm fully aware of the fact of how deprivation of food and water can do to one's body, subtly or otherwise. Neither am I a big fan of any religious practice without careful and due deliberations of what has been said and preached.

Seriously, has anyone, ever flown with someone who was so clearly hampered as a consequence of fasting? I mean, that sort that stood him/her out instantaneously with signs of disorientation, missing RTs, dozing off, etc?

Nonetheless, I think it's more relevant to identify crew with compromised physiological conditions not just during Ramadan. I have more encounters with chaps after crazy night outs with bad hangovers (despite their legit bottle to throttle break), and folks with real serious personal issues, financial and marital issues, that I normally mitigated by letting Mr. Boeing (previously) and now Mr. Airbus did the landing.

Happy Eid to all concerned.

Almost killed on DRIVE to airport

I know this is the most dangerous phase of flight, but the company crew bus driver, so tired when taking me to the airport, wandering over three lanes........ lucky not busy section of the highway.

He had been up all night, and just starting his next days duty, and fasting too.

It was 9am....... he acknowledged his state, just rolled his eyes towards the sky.

I have never felt so exposed to death ever... till next year.

Only because the UAE has one of the highest ratio of diabetic individuals your nick name can be just marginally appropriate. How can it be sweet otherwise the life of someone born and grown under an excessively repressive religion ,an excessively repressive regime and all that while bearing an average temperature of 45 C ? Oh yeah.. you bought your powerful sportcar and you enjoy it on the bumps of Jumeirah beach road at 20 kmh .. wow!! That is so cool habibi...
If I was you I was not be so arrogant habibi . It is still a long way for you Islamic camel riders to conquer the world of aviation. You are still ruled by a dude dressed in a peculiar way,you have no clue of what civilization is as you confuse it with appearance . You or better the self serving expats you are buying by the pound to manage your company (as you are not capable enough ) are just taking advantage of the legal, social and ethical vacuum there in the Medieval reign of Camel Hot, of a temporary phase of civil social and cultural regression in the West (mostly fueled by an increase in digitally derived stupidity ) and, moreover, of the money you made without any merit from selling the black, polluting, shit your pumped out of the desert. But all that will change and sooner than you think and you, habibi, will be driving your camel again. Which most probably, fasting or not fasting, is more appropriate.

Eid Mubarak - life's back to as normal as it gets out here. I'm sure the thread will reappear next year!
Now all we need is the weather to cool down.

Religion

When will humans finally realize that there's never been any god, there arent any and will never be any. If there was a god there would be only one religion first of all. And if there was one god dont you think god would have a divine plan. Look around you and if there is a divine plan, then its completely f....k.....d....u..p, dont you think? first of all a divine plan would take care of people so everybody gets food and water on a regular basis, (for exemple about 1.3 billion people have no acces to clean water on this planet..)this IMHO doesnt belong to a divine entity.
And secondly, why people pray? imagine 7 billion people praying for different things, what if one is asking for something that goes against god's divine plan, do you really think that he would change his plan just for you??? so why bother praying in the first time. Religion was invented just to control people by fear. Guess what, only 15% of humans on earth have enough brain cells to process information with 100% logic based on facts. Among this 15% smarter people there is about 1% controlling everything and the other 85% of the people. The 14% left is a threat to that 1% controlling, thats why they were crucifying and burning the ones that would go against their system, they needed to keep the control, and they are still today, but today the other 14% just mind his own business and enjoy life while it last. I personally respect all people beliefs and i dont mind if they want to fast if it can make them feel good, its healthy to fast on a regular basis anyway. For those pilots that are in the 85% and fasting during ramadan, they should be given a month OFF as a flight deck is not an appropriate place to fast and cannot be considered SAFE by any means.
It is simple biology and chemistry. Sadly only 15% of you reading this will agree with this simple logic.
Cheers!
