Where does it specifically mention in the Koran about how one fasts in the arctic circle during the summer?

Where does it specifically mention in the Koran about how one fasts while orbiting the Earth on the ISS Space station?

Has there been a muslim in space? Being that there is over a billion of them you would think there has been at least one muslim in space with the obvious caveat that they got there not on a muslim rocket.

No one has answered why westerns or anyone else can not eat during Ramadan so muslims can see you. A young child can eat in public what is the difference if a muslim sees a child or an adult eating. Don't they get the same urges?
Why don't they close all the grocery stores during daylight? Isn't looking at food a big temptation. While we are talking lunacy (after all we are in the middle east) they should take down all the billboards advertising food and drink.
Oh the madness!

Why are all you guys trying to talk sense in a land where none exist! The bloody *place is all about total contradictions. You think anything will change in the name of safety or Mr.Joe does not like it!!! Just shut up ,make your money and get out when you've had enough of the bs! Mind you that day will come and no money in the world can hold you back,as it did with me!

I had to fast for 12hrs before the cholesterol test for my initial medical on joining QR

When it came to the colour vision test I failed miserably. Obviously this was a bit of a shock as haven't had problems before.

The Dr asked me if I'd eaten anything to which I said no..
He told me to go have an orange juice and a mars bar and come back in an hour. Which I did and passed he test fine second time around.

So people saying it doesn't affect you are talking nonsense!

Heard on the radio, this morning, in the sandpit that there had been some 3605 road traffic accidents (RTAs) during the rush hour in the first week of ramadan, compared with 4 during the same period the month before......is that not proof positive of the dangers of fasting and operating machinery?!!!

Small wonder that the road traffic authority here is known by its initials......RTA......or road traffic accident as RTA is commonly referred to as in western, english speaking countries! And remember, we are sharing skies with people in the same state.......very, very frightening!!

Unless you are on BA125

See recent new thread.....
Bahraini prince arrested for being drunk and disorderly on BA flight

Image via colombogazette.com

Jul 29, 2012 So much for Ramadan... A drunk Arab prince was threatened with 50,000-volt Tasers by gun cops after trying to storm the flight deck of a British Airways jet.
The billionaire, 28 — who was sozzled by 10am — had jumped up from his £2,700 First Class seat to complain to the captain about “poor” service before the Boeing 777 took off from Heathrow to Bahrain.
Crew members called armed cops, who pointed stun guns at the prince after he refused to calm down.
The royal — said to be a close relative of Bahrain’s King Hamed bin Isa Al Khalifa — was hauled off Flight BA125 and taken to the West London airport’s police station. The prince had his DNA, mugshot and fingerprints taken before being released on bail.
A passenger said: “We were terrified when the armed police came on and started pointing Tasers at him.”
A BA spokesman confirmed a customer “was off-loaded from the London to Bahrain service” and appeared to be “intoxicated”. Scotland Yard said a man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.

I can't wait for Halas on Ramadan Halas.
I read in an earlier post that a muslim pilot said he does not deteriorate as not only the day goes on but the month goes on. Everyone knew the fastings was effecting his brain with a commet like that. I was trying to find the accident statistics during Ramadan and I am glad those figures were pointed out to everyone.
If you are going to fast stay away from others. That way they can eat without penalty and you won't hurt them with your hunger induced actions.

In my experience, the most dangerous time for others and the time to be hyper-vigilant (from any phase of flight to crossing the street) is the hour before Iftar, where the degradation of judgment and performance of the fasters suddenly spikes in an exponential way due to mental distraction of almost being able to eat/drink whether the body is crying out in hunger/thirst or not.

Keep going guys with your racist comments around 2 weeks to go before Aïd

Nevertheless I agree with some of your comments regarding pilots fasting for a long haul flight they shouldn't for many reasons but for a night flight with few hours during day or a morning flight please guy come on it's absolutely safe.

Be constructive instead of....................

For those who doesn't like the middle east at least you have job where in your home country you don't so at least be thankful for that for the rest on each his own.

PS: Sorry for my poor english.

How about the muslims have some respect for us? After all we are guests.
Baron we all know the locals don't like any analysis or critical review of themsleves. It might show the inconsistencies of the region.
Fastings at all during any flight is absurd and a pilot who says it is okay has serious judgement issues and should not be a pilot.

Just out of curiosity...would our fasting colleagues have any qualms about being assigned the 3pm sim, for two consecutive days, to complete ther PPC and Recurrent while they're fasting? Our CP on the bus, who I assume would be fasting too, insists we should be able to pass our PPCs anytime, anywhere.

For those that have never fasted before, it can be a very difficult challenge, but you need to keep in mind, that those who are fasting for Ramadan have done so annually since they were very young, and are therefore likely to be more adept at being aware of, and managing the resulting physiological effects.

I had dinner a couple of nights ago with a close friend (Captain for one of the gulf airlines) he explained he is fully aware of how the fasting affects him, and what his own limitations are. He also explained that he would never report for duty unless he was 100% sure he was fit to do so.
