EK pre-existing medical condition

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has more detail on the pre existing medical conditions in EK, my wife is in the process of having a condition diagnosed before we go out there which is quite serious, it's unlikely the final diagnosis will be done before she could potentially be out there. I don't know how they define pre-existing but I'd assume the fact there have been some investigations is a problem even if it's not fully confirmed?

Obviously this is quite a significant decision to make, and much as I love flying she will always be more important than big shiny airplane syndrome!

I'd understood after 2 years that existing conditions are included but does this mean they have to be symptom free for those 2 years?

I know there is much debate on the suitability of the EK medical insurance and if it would be enough cover but I believe any company we would choose out there would have the same restriction.

Thankfully we are well covered privately and via health service at home but would be keen to clarify the situation out there.

Thanks in advance, please don't let this turn in to a pros and cons of EK thread or the finer points of the EPC medical insurance!

Please don't take this advise from PPRuNe. Ask the company directly. You need to know the facts, and they are the only ones that will tell you what is really happening. They will answer you honestly.

All the best to you,

the Don

It would be a shame to have her "diagnosed" in DXB at the clinic after she has been on the new plan for 6 months, seeing as how her symptoms just started and all....

As the saying goes... It's easier to get forgiveness then permission sometimes.

Whatever happens I am sure you will find the EK clinic very understanding of your situation. They are extremely good at what they do (most of the time) and my personal experience is of a very professional setup.
