You mean a 7% paycut, and we give them 17 weeks because we will only make half a billion-ish dollars?

Tough times indeed.... (sarcasm)

0 and 0 , blame it on increase fuel cost and the 380 wing cracks. Airbus is not covering the total lose of rev. Fuel cost is BS, unless hedging went wrong somewhere.

But they will only make 1 Bil US profit and call it a bad year!

FWIW, outstation staff advised by memo, from a quote from HH at the 1000th B777 ceremony, that there will be a pay freeze for the group for the 12/13 FY.

They have to give us something to save face. Also since the company are going with 100 plus DECs and delaying FOs upgrades by at least a year they have to give a payraise to get qualified pilots to join.
Probably 4 weeks to go with their $1.5 Billion profit and a 4-5% payraise.

Looks like about 80% of the companies surveyed plan to give a pay raise. Etihad pilots just received a bonus of 4 weeks. I'd be surprised if ek was one of the few companies in the UAE not to give a raise.

gulfnews : Expect a salary increase this year

gulfnews about GCC payrises

All fine, but if most UAE or GCC companies give nice pay rises, we will probably be branded a "semi-UAE" company, due to our global exposure.
So not comparable at all to "real" UAE companies .... and no pay rise.

Do we have a date for the announcement of the profit share/payrise whatever yet? I seem to recall it is usually around the 20th of April.

No news can be expected until the usual time around the end of the first week of May, as it has been since I joined the mob more than a few years ago.

My guess 2 weeks for saving of face (thanks to the guys getting some crumbs at EY), and 5% including the 'annual' step.

Discuss.............
