UAE Visitor Visa on Arrival for Canadians/ Americans/ Brits

I'm hoping someone from one of the 32 countries (CDN, USA, UK, etc) listed who are eligible for a visa on arrival can help out:

Do you know what the repercussions are if you overstay your 30 day visa stamp? I have family visiting and they may have to overstay by a week or so depending on available flights out of here. Just curious as what I need to do, if anything.

Does anyone have family who overstayed the 30 days but you did not get an extension? What happened to them on exit?

Thanks for the help..

A quick road trip to Oman or flight to BAH/DOH can fix that problem...

They place a fine of Aed10 to 20 (can't remember the amount, this is a distant memory) per day for the over stay. It maxes out at aed500?(can't remember). Should be on their website.

The don.

You may find that you can get a 30 day extension when in the country. That is the case if you hold a Brit passport. Check your countries travel advice for the uae or via the uae consulate in your country.

If you overstay expect a fine on leaving the country, then again maybe not.

Your options are

A) with your 30 day visa your also given a 10 day grace period if you over stay. After that i think it's 100AED per day over stayed.

B) if you want to play it safe, you can always go to immigration, and you can have another 30 days for 500AED each.

Or

C) take your family on a day trip to DOH/BAH somewhere cheap on flydubai, be careful tho as you've got to pay on entry to get into Qatar so sometimes it's not worth the hassle. (don't know if this has changed since I last went)

Hope this helps.

Check the local English language papers, there are companies advertising day trips to Oman for the very purpose of visa renewal.

Thanks for the info guys!!!

Any idea how long of a drive to the Oman border from Dubai? Looks like that may be easiest and cheapest.

Not far to the border I agree, but I think you need an Omani Visa to enter there.
I once got into minor Sh1t, after i got a little lost off road near Al Ain and ended up approaching the Omani border post from the wrong side, they would not let me out!!
I had no option to turn around and head back the way I had come, get "lost" again, eventually finding my way back into the UAE.

Visa on arrival for Brits is for 30 plus 9 ie 40 days. As in you must leave on day 39. To renew, the best option is to go to Hatta and across to Oman. Pay 50 aed to get an Omani Visa. Then return. You are ok for another 39 days. Don't go down the fine route. It is 200 aed for the first day. 100 for every subsequent day. No limit.
It takes 4 hours or so to go to Hatta and return to Dubai
Good luck
