NAS Air or Qatar Airways

Need help Guys.

Which one should I take. On the paper NAS looks lot better with better pay with a 35/30 roster. Nas pay for the month ON $12,500 USD and the month OFF $10,000 USD, but than again Qatar is more stable. I was hired by Cathay Pacific but everything is on hold now waitting for class date maybe end of 2009 or 2010. Looking for Inside info, Many thanks.

Cheers.

first of all, I can't understand why you are looking for stability in a airline when you only plan to stay until 2010 or less ?
with decision making skills like that I would not want you sitting beside me when I need to make a choice of what to do, I'm sure you'd be no help.

let me be blunt, Qatar Airways does NOT want someone like you, so go else where.
this airline might be what it is, but the fact remains there are guys out there wanting and needing a good job, and would be willing to stay for a while. why would you want to come here and take a perfectly good position ( if you qualified) from someone who needs or really wants the job, while your just waiting for the call of CX.

Go to NAS

Take a chill pill mate. Why do you always think everybody who post here is going to be your FO, but I sure you will be dram to fly with, but I understand, your defending your airline as Qatar is the best you can do. Now you don’t have to worry about flying with me as I was offered a DEC position and with over 14000 hours and 3800 hours PIC on B777 and examiner I have no problem seating in the FO seat as I have ZERO ego. Now I have been reading your post’s for while and I really don’t understand you. You sometimes talk about Qatar Airways should be the last place one should come too, than some where else you talk about what a great airline Qatar is, 5 star international airline yet they can’t even respond to a simple email as other's have said . Speaking of decision making one should really look at your so called 5 star airline hiring practice, Qatar is the only Airline in the world who hires pilots from RJ in to left seat of A320 and A330, why is that Capt Krunch? Just go to Listen to Live Air Traffic Control Communications | LiveATC.net and listen to KJFK live feed and listen to Qatar Airways, they can’t even flow basic taxi instruction, just the other night they flow the wrong Dept SID. You have people leaving Qatar everyday why is that? Even Capt’s are leaving, why is that? You have said yourself this is not a career airline. I was being honest about what I was going to do, but you thought me one thing from your post. Qatar doesn’t need honest people working for them, one has to be two face to last long enough at Qatar. The funny thing is at the interview I told them I was waiting for CX and they said thanks’ for you’re honestly but we are sure you will change your mined once you start working here. But again Thank you very much for your time.

This is getting uglier by the minute. The advantage of NAS is that you will have a commutable schedule. The disadvantage is that you will have to go through training for a new airplane. If you are waiting for CX in 2010, then go to Qatar. You will be on an airplane you have already flown and are current on. The 12 months or more will pass pretty quickly and then in 2010 if/when CX does call, you can make your decision. If you have been an airline guy all along I think you will find the airline schedule a lot better than any corporate or fractional outfit. Best wishes, either way.

Yeah, It's getting ugly. Is it the dusty weather in Doha at the moment that makes you this agressive and to go after this guy like this? Or is it just his pseudonym?
He has a valid question, right?
I'd go for QR as well, unless you want to commute.

35/31

NAS does not offer 35/31 anymore.

Fulltime, 6/3 or 6/2 only

yeah well, maybe it is the dust .. i agree I shot from the hip a bit there and yes I can agree with some of your statements about the R/T problems that some of these guys face. embarrassing at best sometimes.
yes lots of guys leave .. it's a revolving door.. yes they are pretty much at the bottom of the barrel (or below that) when finding guys to fly the aircraft these days as you mentioned.. and no this is not yet a career airline of course.
but the fact remains that if you are planning to leave as soon as CX calls you then why put the place thru all the trouble of putting you on in the first place.. it will take minimum of 3 months to have you out on the line at best ( regardless of your experience) not to mention all the very scarce man hours to do so, while it could be better utilized on someone who will stay the course.. well for a while longer anyway.

USPILOT...zero ego??? Good one mate, you nearly got us fooled by that one...

Valid remarks about the JFK thing though, embarrassing at least for QR, but hey, 5 star ratings have nothing to do with the flight deck as I am sure you know!

Compound: Ain Khaled

Good services: what to say. Many kids around and it is a gated comunity with pool, clubhouse and Gym. But most facilities are off-limits for kids on their own...

Days off: depending on fleet you are on. Minimum of 7 guaranteed normally

Medical: does NOT cover childbirth or any pregnancy related complications your missus might face.

Do NOT come here via a contract agency, try to get in directly!

Sorry, but the comments lost all their validity when you complained about an Airline's RT procedures while expressing them with massive spelling errors

Beeing a, soon to be furloughed, SAS 10y B737 F/O, I have been reading lots about Qatar Airways and Doha living. I now Doha have a problem with housing at the moment, due to high growth rate, to few homes, rising prices. But the schools look excellent. The American schcool of Doha is look fantastic!! Check out their web site! The airline is growing fast...who these days can ask for more. Myself, I am excited about maybe getting a opportunity to fly there!

I'd go to Qatar if you want stability. NAS does not appear to have a good reputation from what I have heard - just read the NAS thread on this forum - I have heard similiar accounts.

Ultimately, if you don't like Qatar you can go to CX when you get the call. There are worse jobs out there I am sure. I hear the 777 fleet at QR is expanding and you get better variety of destinations.

US PILOT.

Qatar vrs NAS
No brainer. Qatar.
Nas is light years behind Qatar in every aspect. Living in Doha isnt bad at all compared to Saudia Arabia. You get your accomodation day one.
Yes its disorganized, but improving as far as i see. They have a new recruiting team that is hiring based on qualifications, not connections. Housing is working on new additional accomodations. They have already found them for cabin crew.
Quality of training is overall good but its a luck thing based on who you get.
On the 777 things seem really organized, the guys are finishing alot quicker than the rest of the fleets.

I have tried repeatedly with QR. Even though one might be considered based upon experience and qualification you still get shot down based on age.
(notice the adverts?)

Sad really. They must miss out on a good number of very suitable candidates.
