Emirates July Interviews

Just curious how many have an interview in July. I would like to compare notes. I recently re-activated my app after difering an interview 3 yrs ago...they called within a month of me re-activating it. I'm a right seater in the A-320 with about 10k hrs.

How are you guys preparing for the interview? From what I've read/heard you really can't!

I've been sched for a July 1 interview for over a month with no travel itinerary and have been sending them reminder emails. Just got one this am: The email said that unfortunately they were not able to accomodate me with a direct flight because they were all booked. Instead they are booking me on a Virgin Atl. flt, with a 6 hrs sit then connect with Ek to DXB. 24hrs total (in economy) later I land at 23:55 in DXB. I'm assuming arriving at 01:30 or so at the hotel...do all the paper work...to bed at 0230 then up at 0500 for the 0600 shuttle then start a 12 hr day of interviewing.
Don't know about any of you but I can't sit 24hrs in Y class then get 3 hrs sleep at the hotel and be expected to look, speak, react, like a professional. So, I told them with all due respect....no thank you but I could leave a day early. Waiting on their response! Maybe it will be "stay home"! If so then I know what kind of company I'm dealing with and they will save both of us our time! I'm hopping not but be for-warned!

How have/are you guys "endorcing/certifying" your logbooks?
I'm in the US and as you know we don't do that here.
I'm thinking a letter from the chief pilot but then the cat's outa the bag

A couple of points that may help you along. PPrune used to be a fairly authoritative source of job info, no longer the case I’m afraid. Lots of personal opinion, that unless you know the person concerned may well not be valid for you and your personal circumstances.

I urge you to contact as many friends or acquaintances as you can in Dubai. If that is not possible then give yourself (and wife?) a break and spend some time here to find out if the lifestyle is the same as that painted at the interview. Surely a significant life change is worth the effort. See threads by other disillusioned individuals that didn’t do their homework.

For what it’s worth I’ve been here a while now and in general really enjoy the ‘package’. When I don’t then I will move on.

Finally, don’t expect any sympathy from anyone that has been here for more than a year that your travel arrangements don’t come up to scratch. We all paid our own way…

Yoyo, I appreciate your cander and time! I have quite a few friends living/working for EK and last month I visited them/Dubai for 10 days to see for my self and do my homework. I decided that Dubai is a place that I could live...I'm single, no bagage, and have lived all over!

However, i have not been able to judge the company yet except for this little hick up! I don't want sympathy nor to bash the company ...just to share my experience so far and hopefuly get some good advise!

Cheers, Blue

Good for you mate. I wish you well. Come here with your eyes wide open and continue to canvass the opinion of as many people as you can that you know working for the company.

Blue,
Take some advice and somehow do not take that flight the day before and then try and do a simulator with no rest. As you probably know the first day is the sim. and then if you pass you are invited for the "interview".

Looks like some folks in August had their interviews cancelled and I just received notification that my interview in September was cancelled. High fuel costs and the economy were cited as the reason for the cancelations.

Just got the reject email today (interviewed the end of June)
Others in my group where notified as well. So far 75% rejected.
Just thinking out loud that the current environment has impacted my interview group.

I interviewed first part of July. First thing they told us was that none of us would be offered a job this year. Would have been nice to know that before taking a week off work. Anyway, the A-310 sim killed everyone...not a pleasant machine to fly if you have been flying a modern a/c for the past few years. Only 2 out of 8 made it threw to the 3rd day. One was a DEC and neither were too shure if they were going to accept the job if offered. They did not care for the living...or lack of conditions. The "villas" they showed us were not too pleasant.

Seems like the interviewing was quite a big waste of time and money for both parties involved.
