Unhappy Qatar Airways beneath the gloss

As flight deck at Qatar I can confirm 27 flight deck have left the airline since the start of 2003, I have also heard a figure of 87 cabin crew who have departed during the month of November.

Do not be fooled by the cosmetics at Qatar Airways, they are very good at spending lots of money on presentation but underneath the makeup it’s a third world airline in every sense of the word.

Staffs, in particular ground and cabin staff are treated in an appalling and what would be ILLEGAL manner in most countries. I have heard ground staff being racially abused by the CEO of this airline in the galley of an aircraft in front of first class passengers. Dozens of pages on here I could fill with stories of what amounts to no more than modern day slavery.

As an A320 or A300 pilot with Qatar Airways you will be worked to the maximum, fatigued by a growing shortage of pilots and a hopeless, useless and incompetent rostering department, the A330 will go the same way next year. There are no thanks for your efforts from an increasingly spineless flight ops management who do or say NOTHING without the approval of a man who has no technical qualifications whatsoever, the CEO.

People here are tense, frightened, insecure, bullied, undervalued, underpaid, stressed and taken very personally by an airline that could not operate anywhere else in the developed world in the manner that it does here.

If you are contemplating the move to Qatar from somewhere else think very carefully, the money is well below average, the working atmosphere is terrible, the rosters = fatigue, there is zero respect for our profession and the special job that we do. Most are looking for a way out and the resignations will only snowball into the New Year. Qatar Airways is sinking further into the brown stuff by the minute and everybody here knows it except the CEO, but will anybody tell him……

Akbar Al Baker you stupid, stupid, shortsighted man.

Browntable,
Well said. They could not survive in the real world. In fact our mate Akbar has just said that it will be another 5 years before they post a profit. 2 years ago it was 2 years. Early this year it was 3 years. Now it is 5.
I only wish he could be shown the real world. He would not last 1 minute. He is rude, a racist and a very small man with a big chip on his shoulders.
He is one sad individual who uses his position of power to put people down and try and build himself up.
To this day I have never had anyone walk into the cockpit (other than cabin crew) whilst taxiing along. I have never heard cabin crew being told off in front of pax. I have never had anyone asking what I was doing whilst calculting new performance figures for an MEL. He takes the cake.
Fortunately for him he can continue as is. But what a poor excuse for a man.

completly true coments and job weldone by the previous two fellas;except the comment in the first post, regarding 3rd world airlines, which I feel a racist coment!!

Look at the performance of some third world Airlines and the continues progress and international awards they win!! devoloped world cannot get closer !!

As for Qatar Airways, only the blessings of "Allah" can save them from this rate of intimidation of staff and "hire & fire" policy.

Yes, I have to agree!!!

Qatar Airways will only be better without Mr. Akbor and a few other followers that inclined by him just to keep their jobs!

I am sure about the quality of people employed from different nationalities as well as the locals who are striving hard to keep this airline flying but....I must said the very few key people who have the future of this ariline in their hands; are not willing to sacrafice nothing over expats or their own undecided future.

STC's must do something about it along with the Cockpit crew and the cabin crew we should all reunite and ask to speak to the sheik. until then.........

We are ready anytime to leave and run not just one,but two miles away from QR, but sadly the "bouncer" doesnt let any other airline take us with so called inter airline agreements.

He should either treat us right or let us live!

What a shame on him, when he knows he's been hated by his own staff!!
