CAA Class 2 - Lyphoedema

Hi all,

I've just started working towards my EASA PPL(A), an enjoying it hugely. Clearly it's all a bit moot if the medical were to be a drama... Clearly a trip to an AME is a must, but I would like any advice on how to best prepare.

I have a low-grade unilateral lymphoedema in one leg. Nothing like the horror-story pictures one sees; it just a gets a bit puffy occasionally. This has no functional impact (range of motion, strength etc) - I am currently serving in the military and remain fully medically fit in their eyes. It's been investigated by CT, MRI and US to have no malignant cause, so there aren't any nasty surprises hiding away.

There is very little on the CAA literature on this (other than a mention of looking for 'dependent oedema' in the physical examination - with no nod to implications). Is this likely to be a problem, or as it doesn't have a functional impact with associated documentation to show it's been investigated unlikely to be an issue?

In any case, I'd welcome advice on what to take along / brief to an AME; clearly medical fitness is an important requirement and I have no desire to get around any requirements, but preparation tends to be key in approaching these issues.

Many thanks in advance.
