Pigment dispersion syndrome

Hello,
I recently went through my initial CASA class 1 medical in UK and was found to have a pigment dispersion syndrome in both eyes. I did met all the visual requirements and did pass the medical test (already have JAR class 1 since a couple of years)
This sindrome is not going to stop me from flying now but it might increase the eye pressure and develope in glaucoma in the future. According to the ophthomologist I've a 30-50% chance of getting glaucoma by the age of 50.
Talking with the AME it seams that if I'll develope an high eye pressure they can control it with drops or laser treatment and is not a bar for flying commercially.

Is there any pilot with pigment dispersion syndrome ?
I've understood this can only lead to an increase of eye pressure and to avoid it I'm not allowed to do any running anymore

Any information about this condition is really appreciated!

Good news is that it's picked up early; you'll need lifetime monitoring - perhaps yearly. Your a good example of vocational medicals picking up incidental pathology.
Seems like you've been given good advice apart from: "I'm not allowed to do any running anymore" - this is utter bollocks.

Ophthalmologist told me to not jogging/running as the repeated impact of the exercise results in mechanical jarring of the lens against the
iris thus increasing eye pressure.

Besides going for a regular (annual) eye check is there anything else I can do or have to avoid?

Do you have more information about this condition?

Thanks a lot.

Pigment dispersion

Hi,
I got the same diagnose. Pigment dispersion syndrom with increased pressure. I´m under investigation due fast increased pressure and using eyedrops (Cosopt) now. I lost my class 1 in this phase. Hopefylly I´ll get it back soon. The situation is not funny at all.

I Googled alot and found studies about jogging and increased pigment dispersion. One of my problem is that I am flying a helicopter type that vibrates extremely much. Did you get the advise to quit running?

I have been flying helicopters for 10 years, but the more vibrating one for 2,5 year. Any other helicopterpilots out there with pigment dispersion syndrome?
