Medical Restrictions for pilots
I am currently a student pilot, about to recieve my private pilot license. Although I do not take any medications, my father is interested in getting a license. However, he takes some sort of anxiety/depression perscription drug. I need to know if taking this type of medication could prevent him from getting a license, and exactly which types of medication are restricted. THANKS
Psychophysiological entity
I was always more healthy when I was actively flying--compared to times out of work etc. It might be that the challenge and the sense of fulfillment may be just what your father needs to come off such drugs.
However, stopping some medication is often a complex procedure, any such change should only be made with professional advice, and a reasonable time allowed before starting flying, at least solo flying. It is this timing that the aviation medics will have to determine. LR
