bi-polar disorder

I understand the FAA don,t entertain any medicals with piolots with this diagnosed condition, same in Canada. However I noticed that in the UK they view cases on an individual bases and annually update there regulations in line with new medical research.I would much rather fly than be a plumber so any good info on renewing a med. with this on ones record would be much appreciated.

Medication

Hi loose rivets I don,t take any medication nor have I had any problems in the last ten years.I reckon stress and a bad diet, lack of sleep triggered this manic episode all those years ago.So all that said it,s on my record and thats that.

Well it does leave the question as to the validity of the diagnosis all those years ago. As you can see from this forum, lots of people have very troubled periods--without really being so far from the norm that they are considered ‘ill’.

I would think that it was worth being assessed again, perhaps by an independent professional first, and then if all is well, by the CAA.

re-assesment

Yep I agree I,ve put in a request for information with regard to this at the CAA.I will try and get my Privates medical first and see where I am at with that. Then I,ll try for Cat. 1 if I desire to get back into the game professionally.Thanks.
