French troops in Africa

I noticed in many of todays newspapers, stories of those
"terrible, cowardly, cheese eating monkeys" from France are rescuing civilians including Americans from Liberia and other parts of Africa, while Bush has American troops scouring the desert for those terrible, threatening, weapons of (sob) mass destruction, to make the world safer for his buddies in Haliburton and Bechtel Corp.

Comments, gentlemen?

Did the UN security council approve of the French action of liberation in Africa? Oh, they didn't ask? That's what I thought.

Why should they ask, they are at least doing something practical and immediate with limited numbers of troops. They dont need to bleat around trying to get anyone else along to legitimise the operation.
Funny how the "cowboys" cant face fighting in Africa after the Somalia debarcle in case they break a finger nail.

In fact Ozzy, the French troops are a part of UN action to stay there to reinforce MONUC which were, as usual, under powered and under mandated like so many times in the past (Sbrenica....).

I think more European troops will follow later, hopefully with broad mandates. Troops have to be prepared to fight 12 year old rebels with AK47's....

I've been to liberia. Even when it is peacefull, it is a disaster.

It is perhaps the most overtly and officially racist nation on Earth. Whites are forbidden by the Constitution. It is "The Negro Republic".

I was invited along with several of the crew to visit the Firestone Plantion, where Americans are quartered. They run asegregated, gated rubber harvesting operation.
