NY Lottery winning numbers are 9-1-1

How strange is that?

Well if you pick three random digits as described, a probability of 1 in 1000 - which is to say not very surprising at all.

And there are two draws every day so that cuts the probability to 1 in 500.

Altogether the NY lottery runs seven different games, two of which are daily and two twice daily, and one which is drawn every five minutes ....

So the numbers 9-1-1 probably come up all the time.

How about this as well,

On the evening of September 10th the S & P 500 futures contract for September delivery closed at, yes you've guessed it, 911.

With thousands of stocks and shares and other indices to choose from you'd expect quite a few (one in a thousand) to end up at 911 or any other significant three-digit-number so it's still not too spooky now is it ?

Random? Predictable? Probable? So what? A nice story that in years to come will be thought of as another Urban Myth.

sorry but I think people read too much into these "coincidences"
seeing as the city suffered a huge tradgedy and many of the people in the city entered into the lottery and using those numbers to commemorate the event.
And as Grim has stated it will be a nice story that will be thought of as another Urban Myth
