Got some in there that really brought back the memories - if only I could remember them...

A pity that current popular 'music' can't be broken up for good.

You had to be careful when playing a stack of 78's. If you were unlucky several would drop down at once with an almighty crash. Also fun was to be had by playing 78's at 33 r.pm., and vice versa with LP's. Simple pleasures denied to the download generation!

And then we had to change the needle for every record, and remember to wind the handle as well.

A colleague recently gave a talk with slides to a group of sixth-form students.
They had never before seen a slide projector or photographic slides . . .

Ah well, I'm still not sure what a "power point" presentation is! I used to be a now much-maligned "chalk and talk" teacher, but it seemed to work ok.

I visited my infants' school 50 years after the day that I started.
Although the rooms were otherwise unchanged from 'my day', there were no blackboards - merely white boards (but I didn't discover whether they were electronic or 'analogue' for use with marker pens).

My infants' school (and first junior school) is now a housing estate. A similar fate appears to have befallen one of my secondary schools, too, which is now a supermarket.

I have a round flat black disc with a hole in the middle. Is this a record?

My primary school was demolished long ago and became a TESCO supermarket. The Gatehouse is still there as it is 'Listed' - along with the whole Regency High Street.

My original secondary school was demolished and we moved to brand new premises in 1963, nine-months before I finished. That one has also been demolished but at least it has been replaced by a new school. So, all three of my schools have been and gone. I suppose I'm next - but its going to take a while...

That depends, does it have a groove on each side? If not it may be a washer.
