A fabulous photograph but can anyone tell me where it is taken
from. I just can't make it out.
I'm assuming it is from the south bank of the Forth and that the
bridge in the background is the Forth Rail Bridge but I can't
find anywhere from looking on G Earth that has a rail line that
would give that perspective.
Somebody please put me out of my misery

North bank. The viaduct is just to the south of Inverkeithing and the photo looks like it is taken somewhere from the south of Dunfermline.

May I suggest the rising ground in the vicinity of Castlandhill Farm to the South of Rosyth. Although it cannot be seen on Google Earth, the angles look correct.

The loco is called Flying Scotsman, not the Royal Scotsman.

I think The Royal Scotsman refers to the train rather than just the loco.

That is a great pic.

I remember when steam trains were in service. Dirty carriages, smelly and toxic fumes - travelling by rail in those days was horrendous.
Yet.
Nowadays I love to see a steam engine, the noise, smells and the engineering.
Nostalgia 'aint what it used to be!
Unfortunately on the 00 track that runs beside me as I type I have a mixture of diesel and electric locos. However I do have one lovely steam loco for decoration only.

Two scratch built model locos in an auction near to me selling in a couple of weeks time, one about 6ft. long and the other about 3ft. long. Beautiful models both in working order (steam) if only I could afford the 4,000 estimated for each I would go for one.
