The view must be quite spectacular.....however......such devotion to obtaining this award, this, presumably, was merely a training exercise, does warrant a mention on here.....it's only a matter of time, which like tide in this case, waits for no man...

"From a safety perspective we'd recommend people do not put themselves at risk by taking part in such potentially hazardous activity."

These people have a dreadful inner urge to go outside the safety zone. Official pronouncements like this are merely water off a duck's back.

I bet they didn't close the line for three hours whilst he was picked up.

I think the vehicle was a motor scooter.
Some have 350cc engines and are capable of 86mph.

How much time is spent investigating unintentional suicides? I days gone by you didn't have fortifications to stop intrusion; you just didn't do it. At school, playing soldiers, we would patrol the single line track, you could feel the train coming. Remember Tonto?

My contact at KAI tells me that they've also started lowering the contact wire of the overhead on stretches of the Jakarta suburban network to discourage roof riding. If 1500v doesn't do the trick, I wonder what will?

You have that problem too?

When I first started on the railway the police role after a fatality was limited to taking statements from the crew involved and the clean-up. Overall control of the incident scene was our responsibility and the priority was to get trains running again. But now it's a "crime scene", the crew are tested for alcohol and/or drugs, and nothing runs until the police and emergency services say so. A three hour delay would be the least you could expect.
