In my day that was called a 'Flaming Militaire'. It was, apparently, an initiation drink in the French cavalry during Napoleon's time.

A reinforced wine with burning brandy floating on the top. Hurl it back in one go.

In my experience no Asian could handle that.

Well, it may not have killed him but it has probably eliminated him from passing his genes on.

According to this morning's paper, there is no longer a body to recover - it dissolved in the highly acidic geyser water.

Aka an Afterburner.

Friend of mine, now departed, always sported a luxurious moustache after a blow back.

I was there that day: millions of signs re not leaving the boardwalks - let alone 200 yards or whatever. A well deserved award.

Yeah, well, I went for a walk in a piece of American rain forest once and there were signs saying things like "warning: path may be slippery when wet". Yes dear, I did know I was in a rain forest, I had gone there deliberately!

Put up enough nonsense signs like that and people just filter them out, never even see them.

GtW, been there, US Virgin Islands, tourist trail through rain Forrest. The path was asphalt and every 200 yards or show was a rain shelter.

We suspected, like Disney Land, that hoses sprayed heavy rain as we got to each shelter.

You mean like the ones that say this:

Quote:
WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
There is no penalty for posting such a notice when that's not true, and a potentially huge legal bill for not posting it when it is, so it's pretty much seen everywhere and so has lost any value it might once have had.
