Seems a symbolic gesture, but if the Russians want to make that rule, well, it's their country.
Something I think someone ought to ask old Vlad:
Why are there a nice population of Russian kids up for adoption and apparently few people in Russia want to adopt them? This in a nation with a lot of folks making a lot of money in the oil bidness, and others.
He might want to consider the future of his nation, its posterity, etcetera.

Many of the kids you describe merely as "nice..." are in fact children with often important disabilities (mental and/or physical), unless I'm much mistaken. The Americans wishing to adopt these children are aware of this.
Which is why it's all so sad. When you understand that this is merely the result of the usual "tit for tat" game, often played by US politicians in Congress and foreign politicians almost anywhere, mostly concerning completely unrelated subjects and issues. They appear to have no measure of and liitle appreciation of the games they play or their real consequences.
Why do they Putup with him, why do we not censure our own politicians who so easily and apparently sacrifice defenceless children in view of the interests of their own supporters and personal funding?
I admit Poutine (it means french fries with cheese in Quebec, Canada... ) is more a mafia leader than a president, but I am against the international adoption business practised by the western countries anyway. And I could explain why is you ask me.

I'm truly very sorry to see the automatic reactions of brickhistory, con-pilot and rgbrock1. Especially that of con-pilot, your late wolf might right now be frowning from "up there" regarding your flippant comments.
None of you appear to know much about (or bothered to do a minimum of research) on the Russian children and the USA parents who wish to adopt them.
Apparently, your knee-jerk reactions should suffice (especially when delivered in a "gang-style" coordinated response), somehow portrayed as being patriotic, but actually quite pathetic.
