Priceless Policing

Good old Lancashire Police...

BBC News - Police use Taser on blind man after stick mistaken for sword

I can just imagine..

Police: You there in the blue jacket with the sword, Stop immediately!

Blind Fella thinks.. "I'm sure I've got my red jacket on today, besides, I don't have a sword, its a little white stick.. what kind of idiot walks around with a sword..?"

ZAP! ZAP! ZAP!

You're nicked you lethal weapon wielding, friend of Jimmy Savile and probably drunk at Hillsborough thug!

Brilliant.. Another spectacular cock up from the boys in blue

They might want to give the copper a white stick.

I think the copper needs to swap his Taser for the blind man's white stick!

What a total idiot. If he gets the red mist so easily, he isn't fit to wear the uniform.

I wonder what the police union will have to say about this cf the fuss they are making about Andrew Mitchell referring to one of their uppity chaps as a 'pleb'.

Very little, I suspect – tho’ I’m sure they will do their best to ensure that their member keeps his job and his perks. After all, tazering a blind 61 year old with a white stick is a mistake anyone could make.

This is about the only time I ever wish I were a top lawyer. I would contact him, and offer to take them to the cleaners. For free (that should confirm that I am not a lawyer!).

I support the police on the whole. But sheesh.

Before anyone kicks off with anything rash, perhaps one of our police colleagues could tell us what they would consider appropriate action for the policeman involved.

Basil, you are a k**b. what has this got to do with the pleb story? This officer should be punished, agreed. But you obviously have an anti police agenda. Have you been waiting all this time for someone to screw up so that you can have a go? Get a life.
Politicians are there to serve the public, as are the police. How often do you see the rich of the world think they are better because they have more money? No Mr Goverment, you are not better, just richer. Rich people can be knobs as well as nobs.

Don't suppose so - these sort of things happen all the time - no waiting needed - Police taser electrician with screwdriver

UniFox

You are always going to get the single incidents highlighted in the media.

They (these two incidents) are not good, but then you need to look
at the training of the Police involved and the Police in general.

Has anyone actually asked Why they tasered without asking questions
first ?

Utterly incompetent, brain dead, the stupid fcuker of a police officer needs sacking and needs to be compelled to issue a personal apology.
It seems the intelligence of the average plod these days isn't improving

to someone of 60-ish the appearance of the police these days is very, very intimidating.

and the 'old style' copper seems to have completely disappeared.

Seems to be rather thuggish-looking black-clad SWAT types with more equipment slung around the waist than "Tim the toolman Taylor".

And yet, on the few occasions that I have had interaction with them (note 1) they are unfailingly polite, pleasant & helpful.

But the appearance.....

(note1 - as in reporting a flooded & frozen road, stray horses on the by-pass, that sort of thing, not "helping with enquiries")

How did a copper taser someone with a screwdriver ?

Is a screwdriver standard police issue?

or is it that police tasered an electrician that owned a screwdriver?

is ownership of a screwdriver just cause for tasering?

i wish headline writers could actually form something that is understandable.

Don't get me wrong, this bloke needs sacking. My problem was the weak comparison with the Downing St incident.
If you arm police with taser or guns, you introduce a problem. EVERY incident, minor or major, becomes a firearms incident. If a policeman gets into a scuffle, there is the potential of that weapon being turned on them. They will therefore resort to pulling the weapon early on, escallating things quickly. We wll be here a LOT more often. Drunken t@@ts will be tasered or shot every week. Watch the cop TV shows, British youth will /do not accept people telling them what to do.
