Sad to see what's become of PPRuNe. Unless there's an AF447, this place rolls up the sidewalks when the sun goes down, and I hardly need to check in more than once a week.
I also used to frequent the "History and Nostalgia" forum, but now it's nothing but a handful of endless "identify this silhouette" or "what cockpit?" threads and nothing else of consequence.
There are a variety of other vigorous forums for warbirders and vintage-aviation enthusiasts, but sadly nothing much for pilots.

One suspects that the PPRuNe franchise is just waiting to take on new opportunities.
Sadly I have to agree with you ref. aviation. Nonetheless, if you lose your mind, hang around down here. You will never leave and there might even be a film script in it!
Even "down here" becomes like a graveyard at the same time as UK / Europe goes to bed !!!
Seriously, what's up with the Down Under boards? Threads get locked and deleted at such a rate the clampdown pretty much assures people get tired of trying to dicuss almost anything. I'm in the dark as to why. Is it risk of lawsuits or hyper-sensitivity, or what? I'm not brand new, but still fairly new, and have been wondering this for awhile now. What did I miss?
Example: USAir or AA pilots get charged with being intoxicated and the thread last for months on R & N, with hundreds of posts and thousands of looks. Qantas pilot gets taken off a flight for that suspicion which is confirmed, and in less than a day it is taken off the R & N and moved to the D & G forum, where it lasts less than another day before it is locked and disappears. What gives?
Because Caco, with very rare exception, that is precisely what they are!
Alternative mainstream Australian views are not tolerated in any way and any such posters are methodically culled as the most cursory reading of the thread will readily confirm.
The vast majority of potential posters and site traffic are ipso facto excluded from the forum.
