Charity begins at home? Don't think so!

I see the latest idea being mooted for care of the elderly here in the U.K. sees an elderly person taking out a loan to pay for care in later life (How the hell do you estimate how much you need, unless you are going to top yourself on a given date, or when the present loan runs out) and then leave the debt to be paid by the remaining rellies.
Those rellies will have enough debt and strife of their own, no doubt, without being foisted by another lot.
When is someone in the Guvmint going to have the nads to stand up and be counted, and stop dishing out untold amounts of money willy-nilly to people coming to this country "for a better life."
The people who are already living here, who have done so for a long time, who have worked and paid their taxes and dues, want a better life, preferably right to the end of it, without this cop-out of an idea.
Rant finished! Over to you!

Couldn't agree more. All I hope for is that some of the faceless bean counters making todays decisions end up smelling of piss, with no teeth and being hit by their grandchildren.

oo er am I Jeremy Clarkson?

We spend billions fighting terriorism abroad, to save how many lives back here.
So how many lives would be lost if the terriorists succeded.

Calm down Prooners! There's not enough money for everybody. I'm sure the elderly will be very understanding that we have other worthy causes to support. Cameron was on the telly this morning saying we are going to donate the odd billion or so to educate and empower African women about making decisions on when and how many children they have. Great. Wonderful idea. But it takes two to tango, and there was no mention of educating African men about limiting their fecundity. Shows how much the gummint really considers issues before it doles out our taxes to deserving causes over the globe.

Hmmmmm

Let taxpayer pay for elderly care so oldies can leave the house and wealth to the undeserving relatives who never visited their relative when they were in care......

Sorry but WTF should taxpayers pay so underserving relatives get a handout free of tax.

Mr R

I thought that is what happens to the Royal family - the UK taxpayers sponsor them for everything.

Work gangs is tha answer to the foreseen surplus of old slackers.

Lotta old people aren't so much worn out as rusted out.

More exercise and a simple diet such as hardtack will lean 'em down a smidgen, make 'em tougher and better entertained by good honest drudgery.

Plan to give 'em three or four hours heavy labour each day at a basic wage and they'll be better able to pay their own way.... and this also will make more job slots for folk to carry the workers off the job-site when the shift is done, plus kerb-side chiropracty & such.
