And a happy "St Jordi" from our patron saint here in Catalunia. Mrs OFSO and I have exchanged a red rose each (it's supposed to be that the male hands his loved one a red rose and the female hands her loved one a book, but things are fairly liberal.)
I also rodded out our sewer with a satisfying gurgle as clogged wc paper and turds disappeared with the cleared blockage, although that's not part of the Saints Day. Just though I'd mention it.
As some of you were gracious enough to wish a happy day to our Nawdd Sant. It would be churlish not to return the compliment! Dydd Gwyl Sior Happus i Pawb A happy Saint Georges day to everyone.
Surely it's now a criminal offense :
(a) to claim to be 'English'
(b) to notice, celebrate, promulgate, celebrate or otherwise advertise the patron saint of 'England'
(c) to use the noun 'England' in any way
(d) to wilfully and with malice aforethought to propose any 'wish' to any person or persons whilst refering that wish directly, or indirectly, to any particular aniversary related to,by, with or from the patron saint of a small insignificant has-been country situated just south of Scotland, just east of Wales, just north of France and to the west of the Nort Sea.
(e) to insult the sensitivities of non christians by using the word 'saint'

Good. Happy St. George's Day! Cry, God for Harry and England.
The highest (pre Soviet) Russian gallantry award was the Order of St George which depicts St George slaying the dragon, as do our George Cross and George Medal. There was an alternative version for Muslim soldiers (from the Southern fringe) which depicted a black eagle instead. Some recipents complained, saying that they would rather have a brave, albeit Christian, warrier on their medal, than a black bird.
G & T - I should lay off the Daily Mail for a bit - it's obviously getting to you
We have an Irish and an English pub which tends to be frequented by the idiot types mentioned above right next to each other, and both saints' days can lead to tension, but as there is no rugby on and it is a Monday, here's to hoping for a quiet one tonight.
And also, I'll raise a chalice to our local great bard, patron saint of boring English set texts the world over!
Then I realised what a bunch of left-wing radicals they were
So I started with the D.Mail.
Now I realise that Ghengis was nice to his horses and Adolf was nice to his dogs and really, all in all, they were both not ALL as bad as they were made out to be.
Mind you I'm begining to spot a bit of a drift to the left in some of the Mail's commentaries....
I find it rather disappointing that none of my English colleagues have even mentioned what day it is.. funnily enough they all knew when it was St Paddy's day!!
