"The Passover" as in the name of a pedestrian bridge put up in Cork City by a popular (Jewish) Lord Mayor.

Lon, I confess I had never heard of that fellow (my education deficient in the history of Scotland), and on finding out, I also discovered that Macbeth wasn't a fictional character invented by Will Shakespeare, as I thought. Truly, we do seem to learn something new every day ...

Overview of King Malcolm III

Seems that Malcolm was killed at Alnwick, which I had never heard pronounced until I attempted to do so by awkwardly saying it like it's spelt. The chap I was talking to came from Berwick, and when he had stopped laughing, he put me right - Annick, it seems ...

Yep, he was a bighead too, so Salmond will probably vote for that one

Oh and I didn't need Wiki for that - benefits of a Scottish primary education!

Given recent history of cost overruns by the "pretendy wee parliament" I would suggest “Triple the Budget Bridge”

How about "The Mendable Bridge", since if any of the stay cables of the planned cable-stayed design get damaged by say a lorry hitting one, or by internal corrosion, it can be replaced by a new one without closure of the whole bridge. One important reason for needing to build this new one is the very great difficulty of replacing or reinforcing the slowly rusting wires inside the main cables of the existing suspension road bridge, to maintain safety levels.
A second set of main cables were added in 1999 above the existing cables of the 25th April Suspension Bridge over the Tagus in Portugal, by the original builders the American Bridge Company, the work being carried out with the bridge still in full use. But this work was to allow trains to run on the lower deck below the roadways, and had been planned for in the initial design. This was the first time that a major in-service modification of this nature was carried out. The existing Forth road bridge was NOT designed for this sort of cable "doubling-up" in later service, so it would be much more difficult to carry out, and very costly on a bridge that has already needed extensive strengthening.
