I was ruminating yesterday about the increases in the cost of fuel, and how it seems to have risen from a few pence over a pound to a few pence under £1.50 in a relatively short time.
This was because I had bought a fiver's worth (because the price per litre was so high) when the warning lamp came on - and how quickly the warning lamp had come on again . . .
A journey of 300 miles that used to cost me £30 in fuel recently cost me £40 and would now cost me £45.
A view of Stalybridge Station, shortly to be gone forever westie.
Whilst the Buffet Bar will remain, it is up for sale after the death of the previous owner. So we await developments.
The station itself and the track layout will be remodelled this year from 3 platforms to 5 platforms. Work is already in progress at the side of the Buffet Bar putting in a new bay platform (the new platform5).
From memory Ibbie, that will be replacing the old bay platform which was removed some time ago.. Hopefully the new owners won't destroy the Buffet Bar by changing everything
I shall be giving my usual short Budget Speech later - "F*****g B*****d !"
The left-wingers at the BBC must be feeling desolate. Ever since the shootings in France they have been heavily inferring that it was a right-wing act, even got a rabid French left-winger on R4 PM last night to reinforce their campaign. And now.........
Any Stalyvegas Ppruners interested in the least in contributing any cash to a PPRuNe buy-out of the station buffet bar in order to preserve the place as a temple of Pprunery??

A WORD OF ADVICE In view of the following extract from todays Government Money Grab and in the interests of self-preservation, it may be prudent to be as nice as possible to the Mods.
SMOKERS
Tobacco duty is to rise by 5pc above inflation, putting 37p on the price of a packet of 20 cigarettes from 6pm today.
DRINKERS
Alcohol duty rates will increase at 2pc above the retail prices index.
It's alus the bleeding same it's the poor wot get the blame, Baccy an Beer. The weird thing is,the sellers of snide ciggies will put their prices up tonight as well.
I know a lot of Trab folk don't smoke and find it disgusting. BUT just think, the government says it costs a £1bn to treat smokers related diseases. But the government revenue from tobacco tax is approx £9bn. If everyone gave up smoking tomorrow income tax would have to go up 8p in the £. We live shorter lives so won't be a burden when to comes to old age pension either.
