At this stage in my guitar career on my Fender Squier beginner electric I"m happy to move from one chord to another in one second or less.
I marvel at the talent, coordination, and concentration of competent guitarists. I've had much more difficulty learning to play presentable guitar than I had learning to fly airliners.
My theory is that I won't be able to fly an ILS in my old age, but I should be able to entertain myself with a guitar.
Dunno who's in this tour band, mustpost. I'll have a look at Joe's website tonight (blocked here).
Haven't seen Albert for years; last time was somewhere odd like the Bein Inn in Glenfarg. If you manage to blag tix for the Brunton, I'll probably be in Stagg's beforehand.

Another of my favourite guitarists actually started out as a pianist, and is still in demand there too. He's a veteran of Frank Zappa's last band, has toured with both Steve Vai and Joe Satriani on guitar and keyboards, did cartoon metal with Dethklok, and has released a dozen or so mad solo albums ranging from moody ambient to proggy jazz rock. I'm talking about San Diego's finest, Mike Keneally:
Brian Carrol aka Buckethead. Oh, I already mentioned him previously. Okay then. Buckethead. The master of the fretboard. (Even if his fingers are 33 feet long.)
R.I.P. Ronnie Montrose, one of my favourite rock guitarists, who died of prostate cancer on Saturday 3rd March. Apart from his original band, Montrose (formed with Sammy Hagar), he did loads of session work, and later formed another band, Gamma, with Davey Pattinson.
Sammy Hagar has his annual "birthday bash" gig at his Cabo Wabo cantina in Cabo San Lucas (I think Chickenfoot played last year). Sammy was planning a Montrose reunion for the 2012 bash, but sadly that opportunity has gone.

I heard that Trevor Rabin is about to release his next solo album, Jacaranda. Only 23 years since his last one, Can't Look Away, which featured loads of cracking guitar, and a hit with a MTV award-winning video:
He has been busy though - he's scored loads of movies, including Con Air, Armageddon, Snakes On A Plane, Gone In 60 Seconds, and more. My favourite of his soundtracks has to be The 6th Day: so good, they put a soundtrack-only channel on the DVD release. Not many of them have much guitar on them, but this one does from about 3:00 on.
I have no idea as to the guitarist was but still have a vivid recollection of Apache played by The Shadows (Cliff Richard's original band in the 60's). Now that was truly magic.
Indeed, though wars have been fought over whether twas imported in the Fiesta Red colour or whether twas resprayed that famous colour when it arrived in the UK.
Thing is, everyone is posting their style (choice) acoustic or electric. To my knowledge (correct me if I'm wrong) there were only two guitarists who in my opinion have transcended this.
