Oh dear, some tall bloke with a dodgy haircut, badly fitting jeans and fag breath has pulled up outside.....bye bye PPRuNe, bye bye Pinot, bye bye public service, bye bye family....
.......produces some outragous legal nonsense that causes the case to be dropped.
If that were true then the case wouldn't be dropped would it?
If the case were dropped it is because the CPS decided that if they went along with it they would lose. Presumably with your fine legal mind you know better?
It's a good thing the Poles, the French, the Germans, the Koreans, the Australians and the Mexicans weren't striking! He could have offended even more people apart from some public servants.
As a US citizen who regards "Top Gear" as as the worlds best TV program - yes for those disparagers I'll repeat "the worlds best TV program" entirely because of the personalities of the three buffoons, I have to wonder what is wrong with britain that people take what Clarkson says so seriously? Even if he was being serious, so what? Incitement to violence? You have to be kidding. The complainers (as usual) are as pathetic a bunch of nonentities as ever stole O2 in my opinion. Heck, the guy regularly insults us Yanks and nobody here worries about it one bit. Lots of folks in Britain need to grow up methinks.
The UNISON person seems to have a very low opinion of her members
Well so do I.
Walking out of the upper level of St Pancras station yesterday about 1230 there were six UNISON members sitting in the open area of the John Betjaman pub. All had hi-vis vests on with 'Senior Steward' on the back. Looking at the table there was three that had plumped for the sea-bass and two for the lamb while the veggie had the pasta. Three empty bottles of the house white and two not quite empty and one in a bucket unopened seemed to be the drinks score. Back of the fag packet sums put that lot at close to £200. Not bad while the rank and file were demonstrating.
Clarkson is not the only person who wants to shoot people they don't like. This time it's Journos rather than Union people though.
Here in N.Z.:-
Controversial talkback radio host Michael Laws will spend a second week on leave, after his on-air comments about shooting journalists. The outspoken broadcaster drew criticism for the comments on his Radio Live show, as he attacked journalists over their coverage of the "teapot tape" saga. Laws said: "If I had a gun I'd shoot them, put them out of their misery, because they have gone rabid and they may infect others."
"The Herald on Sunday, for example, which is rabid all the time. No idea why somebody hasn't taken the shotgun there and just cleaned out the entire newsroom." Laws also criticised the media in a newspaper column, after a conversation between Prime Minister John Key and ACT's Epsom candidate John Banks was secretly recorded and handed to the Herald on Sunday. He later said the on-air comments were a joke. Radio Live general manager Jana Rangooni said Laws would remain on leave during discussions "relating to matters" regarding his talkback show. She said neither side would comment further "until there is a resolution".
because Nick Freeman produces some outragous legal nonsense that causes the case to be dropped.
Err...no! Freeman will more than likely point out that the authorities have erred in the manner they formed the case for a prosecution. It is incumbent on them to get their facts right in order for justice to served. If they cannot get basic details right, then the case falls, and you cannot find a person guilty just because you have some issue with their personality, wealth or lifestyle.
When John McDonnell MP(who?) a contender for nomination for the Labour Party leadership contest in 2010 said at a rally that he wished he could go back in time and assassinate Margaret Thatcher, I dont recall all this fuss.
Of course the fact that, unlike Clarkson, he was a complete nonentity that everyone has since forgotten about might have something to do with it. Whatever, there is a great deal of hypocrisy coming from the Labour ranks over this one.
I gave my wife some wood to take to her colleagues for the brazier yesterday but apparently strikes aren't like that any more, all costa coffee and brioche or sitting at home sending texts to Jeremy Vine complaining about the poor sods who work in the private sector getting cross with them.

pj67coll,
I suppose when you compare 'Top Gear' to Oprah, Gerry Springer, Friends, CSI and The Simpsons et al, it's sheer class.
NASA has been responsible for some of the world's best TV programmes.
It was a Unison "lady" who was threatening legal action against Clarkson.
Well, they had gone to a lot of trouble to engineer this strike after all. Then to have someone make fun of it ... well now it really wouldn't do to have someone redicule it when they had gone to so much trouble would it?
