Now, along with the 3,000 people and the 40 aircraft going with Obama to India, it has now been admitted that there will be 34 US Navy ships, including a Carrier Task Force.
A U.S. Army Infantry division is usually comprised of 10,000-15,000 troops. So the 3,000 personnel He is bringing with him hardly constitutes a division-worth of people.
However, the 3,000 personnel He is bringing with him is the size of a U.S. Army Regiment. Which is really overkill.
However if He was really smart, which He is not, he wouldn't bother with an Infantry-sized regiment to bring with him. Instead, he'd bring one company (~250 men) worth of...... you know it's coming........ hold it.... hold it... here it comes....
I am by no means an Obama fan, but is there any information on how this trip differs from the usual logistics of an overseas Presidential visit? It seems extravagant, but I know that there is a lot more involved than just Air Force One in such an affair.
The Air Force is currently looking into replacing the two aircraft used as Air Force One, with Boeing the only contender. The Air Force expects three aircraft, one each delivered in fiscal 2017, 2019 and 2021.

From the research I have done and from talking to some folks that are very familiar with Presidential overseas trips, the largest was around 500 to 700 people in Clinton's trip to Australia and I believe that one of G. W. Bush's trips were about the same size.
But this is the biggest Presidential overseas trip in history by a very big margin.
So, got to be an invasion. So don't anybody tell India that we're coming.
