The iconoclasts and heretics thread

First of all this is nothing to do with religion - in fact please, please NO religion!

What I'm thinking about is this sort of thing:

There's something that almost everyone agrees on - but you secretly disagree. A few examples:

You're a rock guitar fan and everyone thinks Eric Clapton is God - but you prefer Hank Marvin.

You're into classical music but you cant see what all the fuss is over Mozart.

Everyone raves over the sound made by a Merlin - but you think it's a row.

All the film buffs venerate Hitchcock but you think his films are a load of tosh.

Anyway thats the idea - any contributions? Any subject except religion (and one of the above applies to me by the way!)

I pretty much disagree with TANKERTRASHNAV. Stands to reason, doesn't it?

Agree re the Hank Marvin Clapton thing,Clapton just noodles up and down the blues scales, one prefers melodic music.

PS Don't think much of Hendrick's work either, making loud sound effects is not music.

Shawshank Redemption - to me it's quite ordinary.

The Office - not in the least bit funny. (Give me Dad's Army any day - or even all day!)

Buffett said "You have to be able to think independently, and when you come to a conclusion you have to really not care what other people say. Just follow the facts and your reasoning. That's tough for a lot of people,"

Makes you feel better knowing that successful people don't follow the lemmings off the cliff, doesn't it?

I'm not a fan of the Spitfire. Every one raves about the elliptical wings but if they were so good, why didn't every one use them. Engine's good though.

I prefer the P51.

I'm with e-ticket in finding nothing with Ricky Gervais in it amusing or entertaining.

Bring back Humph (if only we could)......

P-51A Razorback is way sexier than the D. Have to say the P-47 does it for me. Something about the Jug that makes the blood quicken.

While I think The Office was brilliant I simply cannot stand the sight of Ricky Gervais, his stupid phoney shit eating grin and the false and 'I'm ever so humble patter',his stand up act is crap as well,I have to leap for the remote every time he appears on the screen and he manages to get himself in front of the cameras a awful lot.
Apart from that he is ok.

In hospital many years ago, my room mate thought it incredible that I preferred to hear Harry Secombe sing than Pavarotti.

And as for Mercedes.

Erm, isn't that somewhat defeating the purpose of the thing.

flying lid: Odd, that. I'm a dedicated A4 man, and bro had 3 A3s before his current TT and (touch wood) they've all been great.
