Found my car in a London street. WTF's happened to it?
It was like new when I left it there.
Seriously though, the last trip home my daughter said 'It's degraded dad.' Someone had sat on the bonnet.
Bloke down on the coast checks something on it for me, and when I get it back, the HUGE dent has gone. He didn't say a word.
I concluded he thought he'd done it, and done his best to straighten it out. Don't know which one of us is the most naughty. He's the son of a friend, so I'll tell him one day. Pay? Nah! It had premium insurance with Norwich Union and no claims protection. (Not that that means anything unless you spend a week protesting)
Lost count of the number of times between 1968 and 1990 colleagues with a German-registered car left it parked in Amsterdam and came back to find a dent the size of a Dutchman's boot in the door. Strange thing is that the Germans could never understand why....
Probably the perceived arrogance of the Germans; I live just North of Maastricht - cross over into Germany and it really is a foreign country; nobody will admit to speaking a word of Dutch, whereas the Germans coming here expect everyone to speak German. Until recently there was no exchange of details between the two justicial systems and it sometimes seemed that a yellow line on a street meant, "Germans park here." (admittedly the Dutch can be as bad in Germany)
I don't know when you were here, but I remember (pre Schengen) WW III being declared across Nieuwstraat/Neustrasse in Kerkrade, where one side was Dutch and the other German, every time the two sides met on the football pitch

Never thought of that.
Here in Texas, we take each other's weely bins in and mow lawns...look out for the mail...etc., etc. When I come home, there's such aggression everywhere. Especially when it comes to parking cars.
Once had me Moggy lifted onto the foot path in Kensington, by lorry drivers that used our road as a short-cut. Someone took me place, and I drove round the block 3 times looking for a place to escape. I was in uniform, so folk probably thought that's what pilots had to do before going to work.
Yes but, rivets, how on earth did you get out again? Carefully I imagine. I saw something similar in Dublin years ago. A woman's car was squeezed in between two inconsiderate fellow motorists. She arrived and did a careful walk around. Then with the tiniest of movements gradually extricated her car. It was a remarkable effort. It took ages, I was standing at a bus stop wathing her, so had pleenntyyyyy of time. I felt like applauding when she made it out unscathed.
Got boxed in once in the Chevy (pre rebuild) No problems just put it in drive - push; put it in reverse - push; then drove off unscathed. Didn't actually damage them but pushed them right up to the next car. I hope someone blocked one of them in.The tow hook was attached directly to the bumper and it was allowed to tow 2 tons IIRC and it was only just possible to pick up the bumper when off the car. 3/16" steel plate
