Abbey National - check your accounts

Beware you may have problems with online banking with Abbey National.

I checked mine last monday and noticed one of my three accounts was missing, naturally the one with over 15K in it!

Further investigation identified they had done a systems upgrade to allow the linking of over three accounts to be enabled.

Obviously they got this wrong. The local manager confirmed this problem and promised the correction would take place immediately.

Don't hold your breathe because despite daily trips to said branch nothing happened except that the missing acount was now locked even on their own ATMs so I could not transfer money to the accounts visible via on-line banking.

So todays visit resulted in request to close all thee accounts provide a cheque for the balance and off to another bank. After a lot of hassle they eventually agreed and cheque provided, which is now lodged in Barclays.

Suggest you check your own account if you use Abbey National
