A couple of months ago a vehicle would park in front of my house for most of the day. Sometimes it would return at night too.
My neighbour, who has small children walking back and forth to school, was becoming suspicious - naturally. When he confronted the driver, he said he was a "bailiff," but wouldn't divulge anything beyond that.
That car left after a few days, but another one returned. When I asked the driver of the new car if there was anything I could do to help, he said he was "waiting for a friend." Well, that was a long wait because he was there the next day....and the next day....and the day after that. Then the car was replaced by an SUV with blacked-out windows.
When my neighbour phoned the police, they said there was nothing they could do. Then the cars and SUV left, and I haven't seen them back....until yesterday.
When I woke-up this morning, it was parked outside again.....and just took off a couple of seconds ago! I really am not kidding!
I really do not think he is a "bailiff." They do not invest in hundreds of hours of surveillance just to repossess someone's television.
Now, as you can appreciate, I am wondering if they are watching me, but I highly doubt it. My television is paid for. Besides that, I'm not a criminal - although I did not pay a parking ticket, circa 1992. I'm not exactly a threat to national security (but I did get suckered into a protest march by a bunch of leftists once. That might have even been the day I got the parking ticket.)
I really don't think this mystery car is a bailiff. My other neighbour is a real jerk and an idiot, but if all idiots were cause for surveillance, half the world would be watched.
I feel my privacy is being violated. Today is my day off, and I wobbled out to the front porch first thing this morning in my holey "I really wouldn't want to be caught dead in this nightgown" to pick up the garbage can that had blown over -- that's when I noticed the mystery car again.
I think I'm starting to get annoyed about all of this too.
What would you do in this Orwellian-like situation?
