Big Brother is Watching? This is Getting Creepy!

A couple of months ago a vehicle would park in front of my house for most of the day. Sometimes it would return at night too.

My neighbour, who has small children walking back and forth to school, was becoming suspicious - naturally. When he confronted the driver, he said he was a "bailiff," but wouldn't divulge anything beyond that.

That car left after a few days, but another one returned. When I asked the driver of the new car if there was anything I could do to help, he said he was "waiting for a friend." Well, that was a long wait because he was there the next day....and the next day....and the day after that. Then the car was replaced by an SUV with blacked-out windows.

When my neighbour phoned the police, they said there was nothing they could do. Then the cars and SUV left, and I haven't seen them back....until yesterday.

When I woke-up this morning, it was parked outside again.....and just took off a couple of seconds ago! I really am not kidding!

I really do not think he is a "bailiff." They do not invest in hundreds of hours of surveillance just to repossess someone's television.

Now, as you can appreciate, I am wondering if they are watching me, but I highly doubt it. My television is paid for. Besides that, I'm not a criminal - although I did not pay a parking ticket, circa 1992. I'm not exactly a threat to national security (but I did get suckered into a protest march by a bunch of leftists once. That might have even been the day I got the parking ticket.)

I really don't think this mystery car is a bailiff. My other neighbour is a real jerk and an idiot, but if all idiots were cause for surveillance, half the world would be watched.

I feel my privacy is being violated. Today is my day off, and I wobbled out to the front porch first thing this morning in my holey "I really wouldn't want to be caught dead in this nightgown" to pick up the garbage can that had blown over -- that's when I noticed the mystery car again.

I think I'm starting to get annoyed about all of this too.

What would you do in this Orwellian-like situation?

Oh dear! apologies Madam V2.
More likely local council gestapo spying if someone who has applied for a local school does not live ten yards past the catchment area.

Why not?

Bailiff's costs are recoupled from the goods they repossess and the decision whether to keep enforcing the judgment is down to the creditor, not the bailiff.

If the black cars were Secret Squirrel, they'd be a helluva lot more subtle.

What would I do? Offer him a nice cup of tea and ignore his presence thereafter.

Cheers

Whirls

However, if the black helicopters appear, then you'll know it's not just paranoia, they really are out to get you

its not the alphabet soup.. if you were a surveillance target, you wouldnt know that easily.

most likely a dipsh!t PI probably on a personal injury case or something along those lines..

if it was a process server you would have been served by now and besides they drive crap cars as they spend too long in them and get disgruntled hicks kicking them after they have been served.

Tony Draper, I don't think many men wear holey nightgowns....but I could be wrong. For what it's worth, I am female, and I haven't had a beard since undergoing extensive electrolysis years ago.

Whirls, I didn't know that. I guess they really could be bailiffs then, and are watching my neighbour (the jerky one).

Funny you should mention the black helicopters because I did see one yesterday, but it wasn't exactly hovering. he was really doing a good clip. I enjoyed watching it peel across the sky.

Thanks Whirls! I feel better now.

These aren't crap vehicles. The one this morning was a really nice-looking sports sedan. (Too far away to notice make). Then an identical car (different colour) came alongside him, and the next thing I knew, they both left.

The other ones were almost-new SUVs. Either black or dark grey.

Could be drug related too. They tend to drive nice vehicles and often keep up with "the Jones's" within their inner circles.

Could be....although most of the gang members here are SE Asian or South Asian.

The drivers of my mystery vehicles have been WASPish males.

quite likely the jerk has been involved in something a bit dumb and stupid and he's been flagged and movements are being recorded..

unfortunately, that's they way things work, if he has been up to naughties, then he is going to have meet the repercussions of that and data has to be collected.

if your nose is clean then its not going to affect you, youve advised the local PD, if they have something going on its best not to get involved as they will start looking at you.

look at it this way, with a PI or local unmarked unit outside your house isnt going to be subject to a home invasion !!

You could try going out there with a camera, take a couple of pics so that the occupant sees you doing it, then go back inside quickly.

The reaction, if any, might give you some leads to find out what's going on and who is behind it.

Alternatively, bang on the window and ask him/her if any help is needed. Then take the pic.

Or call the Police and tell them you think the car is stolen.

Easy, get in your own car, crash into the suspect one. They will then have to exchange details with you.

Interesting! This actually happened to a friend of mine. Two different cars, parked there alternately for an hour or two at a time at any time of the day and night with only one occupant, never getting out.
I got her to call me the next time it happened and I went over there with a video camera. We walked round the car together several times with the camera pointedly recording it, looking down at the plates and at the tax disc.
It drove off and she was never troubled again. Never did find out what it was about though.
