Smoking Parrot - very cheap at GBP 3.99 but surprisingly very good.

Goats Do Roam - ditto

9pin cannon D will be easier to solder on then use a Cannon to Din adapter Mr West.one has a bag full of dead mice, ere should one say one did, it is now sittingg in a cardboard box as we speak awaiting transport to the municipal tip on Monday.

Some day one shall have desperate need about twenty dead mice, one just knows this for certain.

Hmmm, just had a thunk, one knows that Miniture Din to Cannon D adapters exist but not sure if they manufacture one tother way round.

Mr D for this use all it needs is a 2.5mm stereo jack (£1.99 at that store that has the same name as a holiday camp from a comedy programme)
Might have a drive up to Carlisle tomorrow (may include a visit to a couple of camera shops as well)

I have always considered myself a social sort of person.
After another morning of socialising the puppy in the village and talking to at least 200 people (large and small) who asked what kind of dog/can I pat it/how big will it become, I feel like tomorrow should be spent in the woods.
ALONE with a quiet Viking and non-talking SPH.

It won´t be though; dog book says puppies need to get used to big animals, local farm has open Sunday so off we´ll go. One wilts at the thought.

On the upside, she´s becoming quite proficient at walking on a slack leash.

Spent the arvo putting netting along 60 ft of terrace/sun deck fencing to avoid her falling down one floor and braking her neck.

Obsessive, moi?

Wiring a 13 amp UK plug to an ethernet cable and leaving it around always does it for me. Serves the fiddlers right.

Kinnell Jude, dogs WILL be dogs and don't always conform to what you read in books ;-) Lots of love, attention and welcoming into the family = a nice, friendly dog.

They still chew everything in the house and poo in front of frowning people when you've run out of scented bags though.....

Have had a jolly nice day today and looking forward to another one tomorrow

Gosh! That takes me back 40+ years . . .

Also:-
Tonight, in the local village shop, I caught a wiff of perfume worn by a customer that took me back 43 years. Said perfume (produced by Avon) was worn by many of my early conquests. In 1966 it was called Wishing. The lady tells me that it's their (Avon's) newest fragrance and is called James Bond 007. My nose (and my genitals) tell me that they are one and the same scent . . .

364 Days to the Bus Pass

Many thanks for the good wishes

Today has not been spent chasing steam machines or sailing as has much of the week, but quietly at home with JRTs and family

A nice alfresco tea with Lexx, Mr Lexx and Leo, of chilli and Pimms -style eh???? until the midges drove us in

The highlights of the last few days

6233 on the Scarborough Flyer seen here a few weeks ago at Mossley

and a return a week later on Saddleworth Viaduct with 6201

which provides a good excuse to visit the Buffet Bar for a Timmy's or similar

But the highlight of this week was the Balmoral in the Menai Straits

Let's hope we can keep the company going to do it again!

ps

Ibbie

When are you over???

Been out and about a bit so missed reading about the fun in 'ere...

There's a very delicate little red wine from France that rejoices in the name of Pisse Vieille. Doesn't taste like it, though.

I thought Saga Rose was being sold off/broken up? We've had umpteen letters making ever-cheaper offers on the final cruise. Declined 'em all. I don't think I could stand several days or weeks cooped up on a boat, watching the oggin burble past, with the occasional visit to a port town.
At my age, I can't afford to waste time like that.

Juud: I wish you joy with the dog training. My dad trained all the dogs in our family, apart from one. That one proved that I am NOT a dog trainer. Not had a dog since (that was 1964). The tortoise is no trouble at all in comparison. She just eats all the veg in the garden, digs up the flowers, and hides in the most unlikely places at night. You wouldn't think a critter that big could hide so effectively in a garden so small.

Dogs, welcome them into the family, love them, show them a bit of discipline as they need it, love them, no probs.

Cats: welcome them into the family, love them, put up with the scratches, talk to and cuddle them as appropriate, let them onto your lap in front of the fire, let them see your aura, no probs.

Mambo Number 5
by Lou Bega

Lyrics:

Ladies and gentlemen, this is Mambo Number Five
One, two, three, four, five
Eerybody in the car so come on let´s ride
To the liqueur-store around the corner,
Te boys say they want some gin and juice
But I really don´t wanna

I must stay deep ´cause talk is a cheap
I like Angela, Pamela, Sandra, and Rita
And as I continue you know they´re gettin´ sweeter

So what can I do I really beg you my Lord
To me flirtin´´ it´s just like a sport
Anything fly it´s all good let me dump it
Please set in the trumpet

A little bit of Monica in my life
A little bit of Erica by my side
A little bit of Rita is all I need
A little bit of Tina is what I see
A little bit of Sandra in the sun
A little bit of Mary all night long
A little bit of Jessica here I am
A little bit of you makes me you´re man

Mambo Number Five

Jump up and down and move it all around
Shake your head to the sound put your hands an the ground
Take one step left and one step right
One to the front and one to the side
Clap your hands once and clap your hands twice
And if it looks like this then you doin´ it right

A little bit of Monica in my life
A little bit of Erica by my side
A little bit of Rita is all I need
A little bit of Tina is what I see
A little bit of Sandra in the sun
A little bit of Mary all night long
A little bit of Jessica here I am
A little bit of you makes me you´re man

Trumpet
The trumpet
Mambo number five

A little bit of Monica in my life
A little bit of Erica by my side
A little bit of Rita is all I need
A little bit of Tina is what I see
A little bit of Sandra in the sun
A little bit of Mary all night long
A little bit of Jessica here I am
A little bit of you makes me you´re man

I do all to fall in love with a girl like you
You can´t run and you can´t hide you and me gonna touch the sky

Radz, funnnyyyyyyyyy!
Dreamt that something went wrong with the hair bleaching and that I ended up with waist long, black matted dreadlocks. First thought on waking up: "OMG, how will Radz explain these to her mother? "

Unconcerned, Rolly absolutely true.
Same held with the baby books; none of the myriad books I read at the time really covered the continually puking, always crying, having to be fed every other hour night or day 5 Lb Ghadaffi that I gave birth to.
What the books did do was give me some sort of idea of what to expect and suggestions for what course I could take.
The bit of the confidence that is needed when dealing with a subject you know very little about.
Not being an intuitive person, and always having been a voracious reader, I like my books. (No1Child ex-Ghadaffi derides my dog-book learning by phone and is of the same opinion as you 2 BTW )

Still and all, none of the many dogs we had at home chewed everything in the house. Mum trained them off that pretty sharpishly. All of them sat patiently while being hoovered by the maid, and all of them knew that the people were boss and could take anything off them including their fresh Saturday bone from the butcher.
None of which came by itself.

Also (you´ve got me going now), among friends and acquaintances and out and about, I see a lot of unhappy, uncontrolled, loutish and undisciplined dogs. From yappy shivering scared critters afraid of everything to barking bullies pulling along their owners and scaring everybody who comes close. Dogs who boss their owners around and who rule the household with their neuroses. I don´t want any of that. I want a happy, secure dog wot can be taken most places without making a nuisance of itself.
Since I am not a dog knower, I´ll go by the books that I like, adapt the book stuff to our day to day and see how we get on.
(it sort of worked with the kids, so I hope....... )
