Xmas Party...Singalong songs anybody?

Yep....can't beat the Xmas for the old singalong around the fire after a gang of pints!!

Am always asked to take out the Guitar and ' sing something'!! So am Looking for something new to add to my guitar repertoire!! Especially something everyone can join in on!! Not everyone knows Paul Weller (and he's not a singalong type of guy!) or Oasis!!!

Have a bit of Christy Moore lined up this year !!

Has anyone a favourite guitar piece that goes down well!!

Of course...guitar chords as well big help but don't worry ..i can always google later!

Christy Moore songs will usually only work in Ireland. I did Back Home in Derry" for a group of Irish lads (by that, I mean horse-racing lads) and a fight ensued in a Berkshire pub with a couple of ex-Army guys with me in the middle trying to maintain a peace process!

But Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger are good sing-a-long songs!

Fairytale of New York always goes down well (and it's easy) as do many Pogues songs!

Cheers

Nothing wrong with a bunch of Xmas Carols.

But I refuse to play White Christmas or Jingle Bells.

Wham! - Last Christmas

Chords used:
standart tuning

D [x x 0 2 3 2]
Bm [x 2 4 4 3 2]
Bm7 [x 2 4 2 3 2]
Em [0 2 2 0 0 0]
A [0 0 2 2 2 0]
A7 [x 0 2 0 2 0]

CHORUS:
D
Last Christmas I gave you my heart
Bm Bm7
But the very next day you gave it away
Em
This year to save me from tears
A A7
I'll give it to someone special.

D
Last Christmas I gave you my heart
Bm Bm7
But the very next day you gave it away
Em
This year to save me from tears
A A7
I'll give it to someone special.

D
Once bitten and twice shy
Bm Bm7
I keep my distance but you still catch my eye
Em
Tell me baby do you recognise me?
A A7
Well it's been a year, it doesn't surprise me.

[keep playing these chords...]

I wrapped it up and sent it
With a note saying "I Love You" I meant it
Now I know what a fool I've been
But if you kissed me now I know you'd fool me again

CHORUS

(Oooh. Oooh Baby)

A crowded room, friends with tired eyes
I'm hiding from you and your soul of ice
My God I thought you were someone to rely on
Me? I guess I was a shoulder to cry on
A face on a lover with a fire in his heart
A man undercover but you tore me apart
Oooh Oooh
Now I've found a real love you'll never fool me again.

CHORUS:
D
Last Christmas I gave you my heart
Bm Bm7
But the very next day you gave it away
Em
This year to save me from tears
A A7
I'll give it to someone special.

Most of the old folk tunes are good sing along numbers. Try Black Velvet Band and Whisky In The Jar.

Windy,.,,,,,
Kevin 'Bloody' Wilson should be the benchmark for all Xmas singalongs, although, last year, after a skinful of pinotage and port, I got out the guitar and proceeded to shock the in-laws with my rendition of ' Hey Santa Claus, you c**t'....
This year, the guitar is being kept well away from my reach !

Probably only suitable for some parties, but a definate winner on more than one occasion is the Fleet Air Arm songbook.
