Con-Pilot, you've made a prediction. I hereby make my own. I offer you $3.50 for every dollar you want to bet if McCain wins more states than Obama.
Make that 3.5 beers and you're on.
I did not watch the debate as we took our grandson out to dinner. By the time we returned I had not had any adult beverages and the debate was nearly over. Therefore, I decided that to watch the very end of the debate would be like watching only the very end of the movie "Psycho".
All in all I must say I am still trying to figure out is, how on earth, with of a population of over 300,000,000 in the United States did we manage to come up with these two yahoos?
Sadly voter fraud is going to be a very big issue in this election. In Nevada, according to ACORN, the entire Dallas Cowboys Football team moved to Las Vegas and registered to vote as Democrat. In Missouri, again according to ACORN, the same woman registered to vote ten times under ten different social security numbers and ten different address, one address was a used car lot, strangely enough, it was the same signature on all ten voter registration forms. Just shows that Obama is not the product of the Chicago Daley Political Machine for nothing.
Utterly depressing, C-P, but true. This is another depressing fact-which ever of these yahoos we get, it is not good for the future. America has made the Government too big and, then, hired power-mad idiots to run it. GTFidiots of both parties. If your man gets in, better sell the guns before he confiscates them, tells you to drive a Prius or take the train down to Wal-Mart. Our only hope is for a real conservative with libertarian ideals.
The Vanishing Taxpayer Yikes, the young and the old are net costs to the Government-how did we get to this dead end?
GF
GTFSoutherners proud of their ignorance-it maybe the whole damned nation. Fly tomorrow after recurrent, maybe my mood will improve.
See Brick, there you go again, demand things like proof of citizenship and a government issued picture ID to be allowed to vote. ACORN has pointed out repeatedly that to demand such things is just a trick to keep the poor from voting. Just one more example of the 'Man' keeping the oppressed from their rights.
In fact, I just heard a ACORN spokesperson, on CNN, claim that requiring a government issued ID to be allowed to vote is un-Constitutional, because there were no such things as picture IDs when the Constitution was adopted in 1776.
Well, there you are then.
(Despite the fact that the Constitution was not adopted/ratified until 1788. She was wrong on that as well. But what the hell, she was on a roll. )
To the extent the stock markets predict future earnings, I submit the NYSE has just "early voted" and decided BHO is the winner. The market had already discounted the bailout. He would increase capital gains taxes, inheritance taxes, taxes on <250K households, rewrite NAFTA and put burdensome restrictions on free trade agreements-every action that would depress earnings and stock prices. Throw in a surprise confrontation with Iran or Russia and really depress earnings. GTF you should be glad you are on CSRS, not FERS! My 401(k) is where is was 3 years ago, but then again, if the government tanks, it's mine.
Well it appears Obama has a healthy lead at present though I think the outcome will be a lot closer.
I am amused by the term "attack dog" and it seems to suit Sarah Palin. I wish someone would just do the kind thing and take her to a Vet and have her put down. She getting on my nerves with all her pathetic innuendo and mischief-making.

Glad we are able to entertain you, never the less the we retain the right not to care what you wish for. "put her down", how nice.

So combining the two of us, the vote for McCain-Palin will be 1-0.
Counting the three of us, the vote for McCain-Palin will be 2-0.
" The controversial U.S. attorney firings of 2006 were of a partisan political nature — that's the conclusion reached recently in an internal Justice Department investigation.
That's a vindication for David Iglesias, one of the attorneys whose firings caused a scandal that eventually led to the resignation of then-Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. Iglesias has long said he was fired from his U.S. attorney post in New Mexico because he refused to bow to pressure from Republican members of Congress, who wanted him to speed up a politically sensitive investigation involving Democratic legislators. "
Wait until you hear what he has to say about ACORN. You'll love it.
Don Brown
P.S. How many Presidential pardons do you think Bush will sign in the next 4 months ?

As in the firing of all of the U.S. Attorneys by Bill Clinton in 2000 was not of a partisan political nature?

Probably not as many as Bill Clinton did when he left office. However, to answer your rhetorical question, more than one.
Having watch the few interviews that have been allowed of Sarah Palin and her singular VP debate, I am left singularly underwhelmed by her dimwittedness. That the Americans seems to be under some sort of myopic belief that she is the new Margaret Thatcher, is mystifying.
Sarah Palin is a liar and very poor one at that. Here are some easily verifiable porkies she has told.
Palin told one interviewer that she asked her daughters for permission to accept McCain’s veep offer; she told another that she had accepted the offer immediately and unblinkingly without asking anyone. The first version was, it turned out, a lie. But it sounded good for the 10 seconds needed on national television.
She insisted back in Wasilla that she did not fire the police chief. When a reporter called the cop to check, he read a termination letter, signed by Palin, over the telephone.
Despite her claim to Couric, Palin has not met any trade missions from Russia.
She did not oppose the “bridge to nowhere” in Alaska; she lobbied for it.
She said she sold a state aeroplane on eBay. She did not.
She claimed her Teleprompter failed in her convention speech. It did not. She said Alaska’s state scientists had concluded that polar bears were in no danger. A journalist’s legal request to review the report showed that she had lied and the scientists had indeed said the bear was endangered.
Palin said Alaska provided “nearly 20% of the US domestic supply of energy”. It does not.
The gas pipeline she touts as her main “mission accomplished” has not broken ground and may never do so.
She says she took a pay cut as mayor of Wasilla. She did not.
I am sure if a reporter were to look deeper there will be more factual errors.
My opinion, obviously, has little bearing on anything, but since the US claims to be the Leader of the Free World I do have an interest in who is elected to the position of POTUS. If McCain is elected, due to his age and previous ill health the chances are fairly high that Palin will become, by default, President. That is a frightening thought. If she is prepared to tell lies about the small things, recent experience has shown that lies about WMDs and blowjobs are also likely.
The choice is that of our US chums, but if you can't see the basic inconsistencies in Sarah Palin, and by extension the judgement of McCain, then you will get the government you richly deserve.
Those firings and the subsequent furor always puzzled me.
The US Attorneys serve at the pleasure of the President. He can have a bad hair day and can them all just because.
Why the wild flailing over the firing? "Yep, I wanted my fellas in there. Heckuva job, Alberto..."
As noted often, Clinton did the same and nothing was done.
GTF, last day pardons is a perk so far most exercised by Democrats. Republicans have their share and no doubt Bush will as well, but I really do think the numbers will be lower and the names won't be the ones you expect.
To answer the Clinton and Bush firings of US attorneys question-it is, by definition a political job, subject to the President's pleasure. Watch the movie, Absence of Malice, great ending. They are answerable to elected officials so they don't abuse their power-as the Raleigh DA did. Or rather, if they do someone can be held responsible. Imagine government attorneys that were in power for life, oh wait, we can them judges!
Yes, GTF, the South, put a fence around it and one would have the largest nuthouse in the world. Learned that one living in Mississippi.
G-AWZK, I disagree with the word 'gimmick,' but I agree with the philosophy behind your thought.
Of course McCain needed a 'gimmick.' Another boring middle-aged/elderly white guy on the ticket would have handed the election to Obama. It doesn't matter if he'd gone 'smarter' if that choice would have lost him the prize right then and there. He may still lose, but I think it will be another close run thing. I'm hoping for a McCain victory however I'm not expecting it.
Palin's 'out of the box (erm, sorry)' selection was a home run for the conservative wing of the Republican Party - which is more numerous than the moderate McCain flavor - to go vote for McCain. Many would have been content to let Obama win (Hillary as the nominee would have brought them out in droves, me included), have his four years a la Carter with the same results, then back into the White House with someone with better, stronger conservative credentials.
Palin changed that dynamic. I also don't think she's dumb by any measure. She certainly isn't polished, isn't urbane, isn't a lawyer.
Jeez G-AWZK, I really don't know where to start on this post of your's. Did you just cut and paste it from the Democratic Party website?

She is the one that finally killed the project.
Quote:
She said she sold a state aeroplane on eBay. She did not.
Palin never said that she sold the aircraft, a Westwind II by the way, on E-Bay, McCain said that and later retracted the statement. The aircraft was sold by a broker. Bottom line is, she was the one that put the unneeded aircraft on the market and had it sold.
Quote:
She claimed her Teleprompter failed in her convention speech. It did not.
It did, I was watching the speech live on NBC and a camera panned to show the TelePrompter with gibberish on the screen. Now, as even all the mainstream media in the US all say that the TelePrompter failed, why do you say it did not?

I fail to see that is her fault with a Democratic controlled Congress blocking the construction of said pipeline. As for "may never do so", you got a crystal ball that can see into the future?
I could go on, but just don't feel like it, just keep cutting and pasting nonsense.
GAWKZ, because you have heard us claim to be the leaders of the Free World you are concerned about who gets to be President of the U.S.A. Is there something wrong with this?
1. You believe we are the leaders of the Free World just because we claim that, in which case you must be a teeny bit gullible but honestly concerned.
Or,
2. You don't really believe that we are the leaders of the Free World, no fooling you, in which case you are just whingeing.
My wife is from a small village in northern Germany and didn't get out much until she met Mr Aviation here but then, whoah!
So we went to the opera, her first time, to see "Tosca". (For anyone who hasn't been paying attention this one involves plenty of bad-assery and a rather high body count. Act II sees Tosca taking a very negative approach to an incident of sexual harrassment such that she stabs Baron Scarpia who then dies basso profundo for about, oh, fifteen minutes. Then she flanks his corpse with candles, puts a crucifix on his chest and goes tripping off to visit her boyfriend in prison. In Act III he has a bad accident involving a firing squad after which she airmails herself off the battlements of the Castel Sant' Angelo. Finito.)
The wife was eating this stuff up with a spoon until it came time for the curtain calls, when it turned out to be a cheap trick! No one had died, it was all just pretense, acting, so that she wanted her money back.
Well, NO, actually. Not even someone from the German version of Podunk is that naive. Yet here we have some Brit whining about how this person he takes to be the leader of the Known Universe (Just because most folks think so? What about North Korea then?) gains office by some rather crude boob-squeezing? Get real!
You Brits are always slamming we poor Septics for our terminal naivety and unsophistication yet here you are whingeing, pleading that you have been fooled by stuff that American children, even, know is not to be taken at full face value!
On November 5 it shall be back to business as usual, all the pols back to being best friends with "My esteemed colleague" this and "this long-serving public servant" that where here and now they are hinting darkly at arson and mopery.
Don't let this come as a total shock but if they thought biting the heads off live chickens would assure victory we would have a set of geeks in the White House, whatever it takes.
a small google will find all you need to know. I did not copy and paste it from any political website.
You obviously believe in Palin, as I said before, you have my pity.
Brick,
Palin is not dumb, just not the sort of person that should be in the position she is being touted for. Joe Lieberman (McCains preferred choice) would have been more dramatic and probably more sensible. That would have torpedoed Obama, but would have destroyed the Republican party.
Anyway, it is only my opinion.
Chuks, irony is obviously lost on you. I can assure I am enjoying watching certain people getting bent out of shape based on the inane ramblings of Usernames, who may just be out to pull a few tails.
