Parabellum, I have shared many a drink over the years with far less intelligent people than you and come out unscathed. I'll look forward to the day it can happen.
The beauty of McCain's Palin gambit is that the more she is discredited for lack of experience and qualifications, the more it reflects on Obama's dearth of the same. It may be a checkmate, and to date it appears to have put Obama's campaign on its heels with no effective response.
The Democratic party has long drawn from identity politics and demonization for its strength. Now it has to attack a woman who has breathtakingly become America's most popular politician. They're in a very tough spot and don't know how to handle it, yet.
I can see why McCain had that Cheshire cat grin on his face when he introduced her in Dayton just a few weeks ago. Was he wiley enough to have known this would happen?
Did you hear about Joe Biden, recognizing his 'old friend' and asking him to stand and take a bow for the audience, forgetting his 'old friend' was confined to a wheelchair. Why isn't this on every news outlet's front page as Biden's 'potatoe' moment?
.......Since 9/11, the American economy has grown by $1.86 trillion, or 19 percent, adjusted for inflation. (By the way, that amount is double the total annual output of the combined economies of Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, and Egypt. Or, to put it another way, it is like adding a pair of South Koreas.) And despite a credit crisis, the bursting of the housing bubble, and high energy prices, the economy grew 3.3 percent in the second quarter (and probably closer to 4.0 percent with revisions) and has suffered only one negative quarter during the recent rough patch, the final one of 2007. And worker productivity, the single best measure of the inner strength of an economy, is up a robust 3.4 percent versus last year.......
.......The percentage of voters seeing progress in U.S. efforts to restore civil order in Iraq is now higher than it has been in nearly three years, even as Americans still hold broadly negative views about the original decision to go to war.
The more upbeat public assessments of the current situation helped bolster Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain in the new Washington Post-ABC News poll. Voters polled now trust McCain to handle the situation in Iraq by a 10-point margin over Sen. Barack Obama, his Democratic rival -- the first clear advantage either candidate has had on the question.
In the new poll, 56 percent of registered voters say the United States is making significant strides toward bringing order in Iraq -- the highest proportion to say so in nearly three years and nearly double the level in late 2006, before President Bush ordered additional American troops to the country........
Careful 737er, you've brought FactCheck.org, part of the Annenberg Foundation, who Obama worked for as a grantee (Wm. Ayers wrote the grant request and Barrack served as chairman) of $49 million of foundation money as part of Chicago Annenberg Challenge.
Obama, Ayers and company went through over $100 million eventually in the name of 'improving' Chicago schools. Actually the money went to build political power, Chicago schools are as bad as ever. Some of the money even went to Rev. Jeremiah Wright and his church of black liberation theology ("the US government developed aids to attack blacks in America").
As this is the only thing Barrack ever ran, one might be curious as to how he ran it. Records of the foundation were sealed when an enterprising journalist named Kurtz tried to obtain access to it for analysis. Kurtz' secured their release through legal channels, but not before Obama operatives were given a chance to redact 'irrelevant' elements. Wouldn't it be cool if the same journalists dispatched to Alaska to examine Palin's expense reports would now go to Chicago to look at Annenberg Chicago Challenge's expenditures under Barrack Obama. Don't hold your breath - ain't gonna happen.
You can Google any of this stuff, but I recommend you not rely solely on factcheck.org as you seem to have to obtain information about the candidates. And even factcheck.org had a few Obama whoppers you overlooked to link.
There are very few bias free sites out there in the Internet world, FactCheck.org does not happen to be one. Granted it is not as biased toward Obama and the Democratic Party as Moveon.org or the 'Huffington Report' it is close.
I must share something with my PPRuNe colleagues. I guess we all receive this stuff from time to time, and I find it so unbalanced and unhinged that I must resist the urge to nuke the electrons conveying this ASCII.

The contents of your post seem to be absolutely correct and to the point. What is your problem with what is written???

I haven't seen this before
And your point is? Do you think it's wrong/
There are plenty of individual points I'd nitpick, but that's missing the point - which is that some people (*) read this and think/assume/"know" that's the whole story.
Fact is, that longwinded comparison contains a LOT of opinions and perceptions that are open to question. If you'd like to read something factual, see my post #2649.
(*) ...and they call themselves Liberal. Sorry, but by the etymology of the word liberal, those folks are decidedly il-liberal.
That's why I enjoy this thread so much - we can gain a little knowledge of history and politics and economics from each other, and the hotheads have a chance to coolly examine alternate views. If they remain hotheads, they'll eventually be ignored.
* If you are a Republican politician (Senator) caught in a gay sex sting, your party affiliation will be loudly pronounced by all mainstream media.
* If you are a Democratic politician (Governor and former NY Atty. General) found to be a client of a high-priced prostitute ring, your party affiliation will be hardly-if-ever mentioned.
Another interesting phenomenon are the late night jokes about the candidates.
I have been watching Jay Leno's 'Tonight Show'. In his monologue he has told more jokes about McCain than I can count, however, every night there will be at least three or more. Jokes about Obama, zero, nada, none what so ever. After Palin joined the race there are about four jokes about her to one about Biden.
