BlooMoo we all agree, it goes on far too long. Just reinforces in the mind of most folks that both parties are mainly populated by blowhards.

And maybe that's how we like it. Interestingly, if one party gets their new guy elected and also controls the Congress, usually disaster results, remedied by a change in Congress after just 2 years. So that leaves the next 6 years to babble and spew before it's time for another 2 years of disaster!

Perhaps a short stint of Martial Law would be a welcome change.

Simple choice for Americans in their election.
Majority, 4/1, of people in 22 countries want Obama as next president. (BBC. Guaridan poll.)
Gordon Brown wants Obama.
Sarkozy wants Obama.
How can Americans vote for Obama when so many people or ersazt leaders who do not have America's interests at heart want him to be president.

One day in the election - a snapshot of who is throwing mud:

Obama, the pig and the fish.

Obama made a speech in which he said, "You can put lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig. You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."

The crowd immediately roared, taking it as a reference to Palin, the Obama campaigh is now denying it referred to her.

Now, if you take just the first part, it could be read as just a metaphor which wasn't meant to refer to Plain. However, when you take the two together it becomes highly unlikely he is referring to anything except the speeches made by Palin and McCain last week. Palin because of her remark about lipstick and McCain trying to appropriate Obama's "change" theme. It's fair to read it as Obama taking out his anger on the pair of them.

So he's insulting 72 year old McCain as an "old fish" that stinks and Palin as a "pig with lipstick".

Biden, Down's Syndrome & the Wheelchair

Biden was taken on as VP to be the attack dog. Yesterday he made an attack on Palin who, remember, has a Down's syndrome child - Biden's comments on special needs kids called 'new low'

McCain and Palin? No, they didn't insult anybody.....

Yeah, well, bu&&er the 4/1 in the 22 countries. Some of us furriners don't want Obama, and have been saying so for this long.

And it isn't just me; Aussie varsity chicks and Kiwi schoolgirls (bless 'em ) agree with me.

No link there to Australian University undergraduates old bean.

To liken Mrs Woodfull (before she graduated) to a gun toting, hick from a southern Pacific outpost for the Empire...good luck.

I hope you have the best of luck trapping or shooting your supper tonight Mr Wolf.

Well thank you very much Sir, I can confirm I trapped it in the supermarket and shot it through the checkout.

The sites copied didn't directly link to Australians, but both the stories did mention them; and I can't see the average Aussie schoolgirl having much less in the way of predictive ability re. World Affairs when compared with her New Zealand contemporary anyway, should anyone care to ask them. My daughters, when questioned, are generally swift, blunt, and correct, in their assessments.

I blame their upbringing.

Nicely done and quite right.

The absolute last person the US should elect is the one the international, buzz of the day, crowd wants.

The simple point of foriegners liking him/her is enough for US voters to pause and think a bit more.

Hammer,

Assuming "ersazt" means "inferior substitute"...

What makes you think America doesn't have any common interests with the UK, France, Germany, the rest of the world ?

If the rest of the world wanted John McCain to win would the same logic apply ?

I think that's what they mean when suggesting that personal insults are best made under cover of art. As opposed to the more direct form used here by many (brick springs to mind) even though I'm sure that the mods would much prefer the more rare artistic versions...?

Hey, if Obama has already come to grips with the Art of Personally Insulting Someone Indirectly, perhaps he has already (or will soon) also have mastered the Art of War, allowing the USA to maintain its supremacy whilst going about it less clumsily than most of the others who have previously filled the Commander-in-Chief's shoes...?!

Unless of course, it's all a figment of some speech-writer's imagination.

Okay...time to clear it up, ersazt leaders..........
Ersazt was in relation to Gordon Brown You will surely not disagree that he is no leader.
Your question about McCain, answer is absolutely Absolutely. If the rest of the world wanted McCain and the opposition were Arnold Scharzenegger, you would be best with the muscle clad Austrian, and you would too! What a laugh, married to a Kennedy - short cut for them to the White House?. But--it is a tragedy for America that der Arnie was not born in the USA!

I know I'm not welcome here, and I know Blue Wolf begs off with not being a betting man and C-P claims to only bet the odd beer with a attached, but I see no reason to change my earlier assessment that Obama will win this election.

Sarah Palin will go down in history as the most delectable VP nominee ever. After the initial excitement, will that make a difference? No. Even the gun-totin' right after they have finished masturbating over her won't be enough to get her over the line.

48 states to McCain? Name the bet, and I don't mean beer. I'm prepared to bet $1000 Obama will win. Put up or shut up.

Okay. You're on, Binos. Please confirm. I'll put a grand on McCain. Aussies or greenbacks? (As a friend, I recommend Aussies).

Don't know if I would go that high, I'll stay with 40 plus states and 60%/40% McCain/Obama.

It's only fair I should warn you, Binos, of today's USA Today/Gallup poll showing McCain up 54-44%. Rasmussen, historically the most accurate, though, has Obama up 48-47%. But the trend/momentum is toward McCain, and I'm comfortable with the bet. Can I bring some friends in on the action?

Careful on betting for real beer with a Queenslander---they spell "beer" "XXXX"!

GTF

Socialism and high taxation is alive and well in Euroland-dinner in "cheap" bistro (paper napkins, no tablecloth and no dessert, one glass of wine for 3) came to 147 Euros!!! Are you looking forward to Obama taxation?

Besides, I'm still waiting for a political philosophy that fits in with Mr Madison and the Constitution. Or is posting unthinking Obama screeds all that is available in ATL?

Isn't it irresponsible for someone on a pensioners income to bet that much?

Perhaps your socialist style government offer an entitlement payout for lost bets as well?

Actually Bino's, I'm reluctant to offer any predictions. I fervently hope Sen. McCain wins but I'm not going to wager anything other than cheap French wine on the outcome.

That's why I'm sticking to the beer bet, even an "XXXX" beer.

Right...

Now, as to the topic, I still think it's a toss-up. I do find it amusing that Obama has taken a sure thing and made it such a close race. Obama picks a Democrat veteran to compensate for his lack of foreign policy experience and negates, largely, his mantra of 'change.'

I think McCain's pick for his VP was a brilliant piece of political theater. How much press/attention is going towards her? How much would have gone if McCain had picked a middle-aged white guy and thus, no change?
