Sako

Hi all;

Just wondering if anyone out there has any idea when Sako are going to release their new model 85 in a Varmint rifle?

Them bunnies around this area need a serious dealing to, as they have been breeding like... well... rabbits... Plus Possums, magpies, stoats and ferrits too... all need to be dealt to.

I was thinking of the Sako 75 Varmint Laminated Stainless in a .22-250 calibre, with a Leupold FX-III 12x40mm Adjustable Objective scope. Makes them cute furry bunnies look bigger, when I'm about 400m from them... Then BOOM little fluffy bunny disappears...

Thanks in advance.

(PS a bad day at the office here, I need some form of destructive output)

I've got a Finwolf .762 going cheap...well, it's going crack actually, but you can thank the Royal mail for that.

Hi there, my brother has just purcased a rifle in .223. He was considering a Tikka (built by Sako) but after a fair bit of research and advice from benchrest shooters bought a Savage Model 10FP Choate. It shot a group of .38 of an inch out of the box. He says it is the best he has ever owned. Savage make a 22/250 in the Model 12 Long Range Precision Varminter. It is single shot (which is all you need) and has had some terrific write ups as well. Have fun

Ouch, the postie must have had a REALLY bad day to do that!!!

Still, rather than make you the butt of all my jokes, and taking into account the scope and range of the damage, I'm sure we can bolt something together to fix it!

As for 7/62 and bunnies, it wouldn't leave much behind for the eating. i prefer my bunnies headshot at 50 yards with a silenced .22 subsonic, much more of a challenge and tastes better than having to scrape them off the grass!

Thanks guys!

I am after the Sako particularly as the action is probably the best on the market, so even if I ruin the barrel or end up with a stock like Loose Rivets' I can always replace them with something better.

I know if you want a really good stock, try the McMillan Brothers at: http://www.mcmfamily.com At one stage was looking a buying a cheap Sako 75 with burned out barrel, buying a new stock from those guys, and then getting a handmade barrel... But proves to be a bit expensive...

I don't wanna shoot the rabbits to eat, them bunnies here may carry the Rabbit Callicie Virus (I think thats what its called).. But to see them all turn into "pink mist" would be fun... (I can be a sick person sometimes)
