Exclamation HELP URGENTLY NEEDED! Summer ball insurance

Hi guys

I know this isn't strictly the way to do things - I'm only a wifey after all! But I need some help, and the bigger and stronger you are the better!!!! ;-)

I am helping to decorate the Officers' Mess at RAF Wittering for the upcoming summer ball. I found out yesterday that the mess manager has a 'problem' () with people borrowing items from local suppliers in order to keep costs down, as he says the Mess cannot afford to replace them if they get damaged!

Duh - thats what insurance is for!!!

However, I am fairly new to this activity so I don't know where to start. Can someone help me - give me a number or something? I'm sure some of you must've helped organise a summer ball before! I know that other messes have had such insurance (I don't even know what kind of insurance it was!) as I've helped with flowers before and it's already been done! So i know it's possible.

The meeting is on Monday, unfortunatly, so not much time to research.

PLEASE HELP ME!

Hui

I think it's Public Liability Insurance to cover death/injury to those participating in major events: this should be done automatically by the Mess Ball Committee. Contents will be covered by the standard policies already in place. Not sure you will get a policy just to cover items 'borrowed' for the duration.

Suggest you keep said items out of harms way. Also, get someone to have a 'friendly' word in the Mess Managers ear to remind him what he is there for!

Good luck.

Agree, Mil Forum will no doubt have a wealth of 'experts' to help.
