Silly Question...............

Flying at M 0.84 from a tropical country,westbound.......pick-up a few mosquito during transit. They are buzzing around in the cockpit.

Now,how fast are the mossies flapping their tiny wings and at what speed????

It depends entirely on your frame of reference.

This is like the Hiesenberg Uncertainty Principle. You can know how fast, or at what speed, but not both.

Here yer go chaps

Mosquitoes weigh only about 2 to 2.5 mg (0.03 to 0.04 grain). They can fly at about 1.5 to 2.5 km/h (0.9 to 1.6 mph).

Probably the same speed as the A380 wings oscillate

Wink

If you picked them up on the outside of your windscreen they would be flying at exactly the same speed as your aircraft and they wouldn't be flapping their wings.

Ultralights

Those would be the lisping foppish limpwristed Oz flies.

African flies continue operating and drawing blood well above 8000'. One has had occasion to watch a nurse whacking flies around a medevac patient with gunshot wounds at FL 120.
