Stopping "Taskbars"

I have a very very annoyig problem.If I go to my homepage, or my son goes to Ebay... a taskbar [netsearch, or its clone] pops up. The only way I can remove said PITA is by rebooting the PC..any help/advice most welcome
we aim to please,it keeps the cleaners happy

Thanks Peeps, I've got Spyware,AdAdaware,and CCcleaner. I've just dowmloaded the Microsoft bits, and will prolly try Firefox

I've been using Firefox for about 6 months now and it has improved my surfing brilliantly. Not perfect, but way better than IE in my opinion
