Normally my favourite views involve the female of the species, but a few nights ago I was quite taken with a view of Downtown Vancouver by night seen from Jerricho beach. Mrs Lokis relatives had taken us out for dinner, and decided to take us for a short tour. It may have been the effects of half a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, but I was quite moved.
Looking back towards the Harbour Bridge from the famous Fish Restaurant on Watson Bay/Quay (you can see it made an impression on me!) the night before the Lions lost at Telstra Stadium.
Outstanding scoff, pretty good wine, average beer, tremendous mates, memorable couple of days. The view is still fresh in my mind.
Sunset at Mallory pier in Key West. been there four times. You stroll down there every evening, just to check that the sun is setting, before drinking begins Also proposed to Mrs max there, so a pretty special place.
I`m sure Mrs Loki`s cousin said it was called Jerricho Beach; but I was fairly "mellow" at the time.
Good name for it anyway.
P.S. None of the Above: Since when did I ever have a strongly held opinion. (If I think the same about something as I did 24 hours previously, I consider it wasted time, I think)
View of City of Perth from the South Perth foreshore looking across the Swan River on a dead calm night - absolute magic with the reflections of the city.
I'm with johnfairr on this one - difficult to beat Sydney. Mrs Eagle and I climbed the bridge at sunset, looking down at the Opera House reflecting the orange glow, then climbing down again towards the city lights as darkness fell. It remains one of my favourite memories from our honeymoon. I'm not telling you any of the others.
My favourite views are harbours and tall buildings so any city in the world with tall buildings. Particular includes Sydney Habour with the harbour bridge, the airport behind and the centre point tower
Second would be HKG. Lovely place with lovely designed buildings! and harbour
You should never love something that can't love you back. Having said that, one is fond of the view across the Ouse valley from the mighty peak of Mount caburn in Sussex. Very handsome vista that one.
Was yapping with the british Paragliding Champion last week & he told me that although he'd flown all over the world & had seen every mountain range going from cloudbase, he still choked up at the sight of the English countryside from 5 grand. I know what he was onto there.
Sydney is a pretty special place, and as I was reflecting on my previous post last night, the name of the Restaurant came to me in a flash. Doyles, of course!!
It's gonna sound sad, but seeing the Gold Coast out the window of a plane as I descend into Brisbane, after spending god knows how many hours strapped in a aluminium tube on the yearly visit..................that's gotta be it.
